Alcohol

Recommended Posts

My question for all of you (that is, those that drink) is whats your favorite booze? Rather simple question.

Lately I've been drinking champagne, anything that comes in a bottle from aropund $7. Right now that is.....*runs off to check* Pizazz Special Cuvee. Means shit to me, tastes alright

But for new years I've got a bottle of Drambuie. Now that is some great alcohol. That is on par with some home brew brandy I had about a year back. Fantastic stuff.

So I mainly drink spirits, dont mind a carton of beer, and can get along quite well with a bottle shampagnay. What about you?

At 7 bucks a bottle you aint drinking Champagne :) , you're drinking Sparkling wine. Sorry to be a pedant, the French are very protective of their regions.

I like a good beer, a good red, a good white (not Sauvignon Blanc), a good scotch and a good vodka...not in the same night :lol:...the setting is as important as the beverage consumed.

Have a good one :)

Edit- spelling (pedantism :) )

ahhh im young, I enjoy beer. Although a bottle shop opened up near my that specialises in spirits and they have 5 diffrent absinthes along with a million vodkas and tequilas and imports. The cinnomin liquor with gold flakes has my attention atm. I wouldnt mind a taste of that!

My fave party drink would be (wheat) beer, but I am gluten intolerant, so can't have any beer at all.

So I often default to my fave dinner drink which is very good red wine [aged cab sauv mostly] when at private parties. I am a wine snob.

In bars/clubs I always drink vodka, lime and soda. Sometimes I make it doubles if I need to catch up a bit. I've always drunk vodka or bacardi when out because they are the nights that most easily get out of control and it is much better to wake up with a mild vodka hangover than with a bundy, whiskey, beer or wine hangover. Especially if you are doing it 7 nights a week.

last night however I was introduced to something new. probably not new to all you city folk, but I've been in the country for a few years now  . Double frangelico on ice with a slice of lime. tastes like lolly water and hence gets you really smashed.

When doofing I often go a cheap bottle of chardonnay..

Recently I've grown rather fond of beer (not VB or Coopers though)..

Vodka and OJ is still an oldtime favourite..

Jager also I've recently discovered and have become partial to..

I had different alcohol phases in my life. Earlier in life i loved scotch whisky though i sometimes drank american brands too. I had a phase when i was very keen at a drink of cola and whisky. But at that time i wasn´t very choosy. I never was a beer drinker as it makes me tired all the time. And it doesn´t really makes me drunk. When i´m drinking beer, i´m drinking wheat or Bock Bier which is some kind of Ale. I also like ALT Beer which is getting drunk a lot in some parts of germany. In germany everyone starts with drinking Mixery, which is a mixed drink consisting of cola and beer. It smells bad and it doesnt makes drunk. Meanwhile i really like good vines. I started collecting them as it´s always a good thing to give away as a present. I usually drink Organic wines as i drink very rarely. In case i drink it can also be a good one. I just bought me a bottle of an Italian Giovanese. Not sure if it´s good but i´ll check that out soon. I sometimes drink gin tonic but i try not to drink hard stuff anymore as it makes me too fast and too furious. And too sick on the next morning

bye EG

Cognac would be my drink of choice, but not for getting drunk, just for enjoying a drink or two. I won't pretend I can afford to drink a bottle of that in a night, hell I make a bottle of Cognac last for a few months!

If I'm getting drunk, then beer is good. A real good beer is made by the sunshine coast brewery, a chilli beer. You can buy it online. They even make one that actually has chillis in the bottle!

Another fave is Amaretto and Coke, somehow it ends up tasting kind of like Cherry Coke and you can barely taste the almond? Weird, but I love it when I'm at clubs, etc. Either that or White Rum and Coke.

I like sweet mixed drinks if you didn't guess....

How dare you lump coopers in the same category as VB :ana::ana::ana::ana::ana::ana::ana::ana:

I only drink beer and wine at least with them you have to drink a certain amount of liquid to get drunk, I can't control myself with spirits.

I drink most beers, although I can't say I go much for wheat beers or those fruity belgian ones. I also love a nice full bodied red wine, i'll only drink wine if its out of a cask and I want to get plastered :puke:. I'm just starting to get into sparkling wines and champagnes, I love this sparkiling wine called Bella (made by the same company that make those yellow and pink sparkling wines), its pink in colour but i'm not sure what style of grapes its made from.

haha, seems like im always the odd one here for liking VB. I cant stand cans but i will barely ever pass up a stubby, even in a pub i will drink vic stubbies rather than pots. It costs a little more but at least ya know the beer is gonna taste as good as the last stubby of vic you drank.

150px-VB-stubbie.jpg

if its not the my little brown friends on my lips then it has to be a bombay and tonic.........and i know its gonna be a lonnng nite.

The Blue-Label Chimay Grand Reserve beer is one of my favourites.

Hand made by Belgian Trappist Monks in their abbey, and at 9% alc, the import tax is a killer. One to be savoured, not sculled.

http://www.chimay.com/

Chimay is an authentic Trappist beer that is it is brewed within a Trappist monastery, under the control and responsibility of the monastic community. Only 6 beers in Belgium can carry the appellation "Trappist": Chimay, Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle, Westvleteren and Achel.

Double frangelico on ice with a slice of lime. tastes like lolly water and hence gets you really smashed.

 Frangelico is great, I was introduced to it at a friends place a few months ago and we've been the best of friends since.

I had different alcohol phases in my life. Earlier in life i loved scotch whisky though i sometimes drank american brands too.

Mmmm I went through a few distinct alcohol pahses.

Started with cans of Smirnoff.

Then shots of Jack and Jim.

Then home brew brandy and lemonade.

Now onto wine.

Its strange how different alcohol gets me into different states of drunkeness. Straight spirits make me want to party, brandy usually gets me pretty down and sad, and wine seems to make me ponder about things more. Or maybe I can't tell the difference when Im drunk and I'm actually a raving lunatic the whole time :D who knows.

Generally, I just like beer. At the moment I like one called 'Old Speckled Hen'. It's available at Dan Murphy's. Other than that: Benedictine, Drambuie, Grand Marnier, take your pick.

My fave party drink would be (wheat) beer, but I am gluten intolerant, so can't have any beer at all.

There are actually some gluten free beers. Ask around at health food shops. There was one I remember in particular that was a mexican one and quite similar to a corona. Pricey at $7 for a 330mL bottle though.

How dare you lump coopers in the same category as VB :ana::ana::ana::ana::ana::ana::ana::ana:

As far as I'm concerned, Coopers is for those who wish to seem a bit more refined, but who don't actually like beers that are a bit more interesting. It is noticably different to CUB beers, but frankly, if I'm going to drink something that doesn't have much flavour, I'd rather just go for a VB. It's like people who like 'Crownies' becuase they're 'premium'.

The Blue-Label Chimay Grand Reserve beer is one of my favourites.

Yeah nice beers those Chimays

It's been a long time since I was a drinker.

These days if you catch me drinking, it's usually only a couple of glasses of merlot (at night) or a coopers red or green (day).

In all honesty, I would rather remain sober than drink most of what I see people drinking.

I can't actually respond to that without swearing or name calling. :ana:

Coopers may not be 'interesting', but it is technically wonderful beer! Any self respecting beer drinker considers Coopers the starting pole for beers - they all go up from there. But Crown, VB, Tooheys, Coldies, any of that other crap should just be given to alcoholic zoo animals. It's not fit for people.

Hehehehe :P . Nah, in all honesty I agree with you in general. But, if I feel like a soft drink, I'd rather drink a CUB than a Coke, basically if I'm going to drink a real beer, there are much better ones than Coopers for a similar price. I would, however, never drink Toohey's. Something about their beer just makes me wanna :puke: . I think they must use sucrose in the brew...either that or they don't clean their equipment  Sorry to upset you Benzito.

why are peeps slagging off coopers its awesome beer no preservatives and the only beer i know of to come stamped with a best after date rather than best before is secondary fermented in bottle also like home brew. find a 6 month old batch off coopers if u can and taste the yummy also the company is so homebrew friendly that not only do they make homebrew kits there 750ml bottles are now refillable type with pop top rather than screw top they make beers with plenty of plonk in em too sparkiling ale is 5.8 and extra strong vintage is a lil over 7 i used to think u were alright ballsack now u have deeply offended me :slap:

Good European beers like, Pilsener Urquell, remain in cold storage for a long time and are at their peak when they reach the stores. You are absolutely right that Coopers will taste better after six months (under the right conditions) but, like all pasteurised beers, they eventually go stale. The higher alpha content, the longer they last, and I would expect their stout to last several years without losing anything.

Coopers may seem homebrew friendly, but they most certainly are not. Their brewing sugar is almost entirely sucrose and is hence not fit for brewing with. The yeast that comes in their kits is also not up to scratch. All cheap stuff to sell a lot of kits.

Im not a big beer drinker, I just like em cheap and alcoholic so i go for Carlton cold or Pure Blonde. I don't see anything wrong with Coopers, but then again I find VB alright :) . The last beer I drank was a friends home brew and we call them Big W's cos thats where the kit came from. I'd prefer Grand Marnier and Drambuie over any beer, any day.
