And mine today, Thanks Sethomopod, very prompt, great service.

Thanks Nabraxas, That I did not know. In my actual email to darling Ruddy I signed with my human name and did not use esquire. Good info though, in case I ever do decide to add esq. to my name. Cheers.

Thanks for the id Tripsis, from wiki: Taste: Mild Odor: Mild Edibility: Poisonous Not good to see these guys (for my distant acquaintance to see them, that is)... they certainly weren't in that spot last year and for the uneducated pickers could potentially spell an entire night on the john or worse. I was surprised at how similar looking they were to subs. WoodDragon, is Tassie not happening yet? I would have thought you guys would be in flower before us on the mainland. Oh well, keep hunting. They're probably just teasing you to increase your anticipation and desire. Best of luck!

Melbourne's East is happening!!! These shots are from 25 kms from the CBD. A friend of a friend of a friend went out today and this is half of what he collected (the other half went to the friend of a friend of a friend of a friend). 50 cent coin for perspective. **image deleted for discretion** One thing this guy (who I really hardly even know) mentioned was that there were some lookalikes he hasn't come accross before. Very similar cap shape to subs, look similar at different levels of maturity but with a reddish cap and a more brittle stem, no blueing. Anyone come across these before? Any id? Any idea as to whether they're poisonous? I'd hate the local kids to get sick. Ahh, it's a good time of year.

Oh, and here's the link to send your own personal gripe to our dashing PM. http://www.pm.gov.au/PM_Connect/Email_your_PM

I know that the internet censorship issue has been discussed here in depth, but today I took some action and sent an email to the hon Kevin Rudd and I want to urge everyone to do the same. I'm not so naive as to think that a letter from a single nobody porn/ethno/fetish lover will have any impact on these ridiculous laws, but... man.... you can't do nothing. Here's the letter: Dear Mr Rudd, I'm writing to voice my opposition for the decision to censor the internet. I am a responsible, law-abiding, family oriented adult who enjoys adventuring in cyber-space. I visit all manner of website, some of which may be considered offensive by some people. I am not offended by any material I view on line, however, I am offended by the decision of the Australian government to decide which sites I can view from the privacy of my own home for my entertainment pleasure. Surely, there is an alternative way to protect our young children from offensive material without placing a blanket ban on any sites deemed unsuitable by a conservative panel. I trust that you will reconsider this draconian action and introduce a different measure that does not encroach on the Australian peoples' freedom of choice. Kind Regards, Mr Ra Baelthazar esq. Really, though, what can we do? We have no choice in this matter. The more I think about it the more violated I feel. Then again, maybe it's a good thing. Instead of ethno forums and YouPorn, we might have to have regular physical meet ups to swap extraction teks and stage live sex shows in the Botannical Gardens every Saturday afternoon. "Come one, come all, bring a chair and a bottle of lube, pony rides for the kids" Geez!!!

Thanks Tripsis, Heaps of them around my area.... they don't look like traditional Aboriginal art to me, but then again... I'm no expert.

Hmmm... in that case, my spots are happening already. Went out last week and these guys were all over the place. Infact... my memory from last year is that these guys grow on a nature strip half a block form my house. I'm heading back out to my spots on Monday to take photos, and I guess I'll have to try photographing these guys as well (in a careful manner to start off with, just to be sure).

Hiya Amazonian, I'm another relative newbie, also Melbourne based. Welcome.
-
eh? I always leave these ones in the ground, thinking them a lookalike based on the spore colour and ridging on the cap. Are these active?

Yep, that certainly attributed to me giving my tick of approval. Liked the Tarrantino style too.

I'm not really a GaGa fan, but man, I really dug that clip.... although, I had to really force myself to see the Illuminati stuff. The Tupac tune was a bit more obvious with it's lyrics. The GaGa tune. I'm sticking to the idea that it's about her not wanting her boyfriend hassling her when she's out having fun. Sorry.

I get lime paste from my local Indonesian supermarket, although it is actually a Thai product. Comes in a little plastic bag shoved in a tub and costs about $1.50. Try your local Asian store.

Various cacti & succulents from my collection
Rabaelthazar replied to mutant's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Very nice collection!! What's that furry hand-like graft in the second-last cactus pictured (there were three shots of it)? On a different note, I'm always amazed at how intelligently cacti design their armor. I wish I could be a plant for a day and get a true understanding of plant consciousness (although after reading your "Warning on Subs" posts, I wouldn't be surprised if you have some arguments against the idea of plant consciousness (he he)). -
Life between Lives
Rabaelthazar replied to Rabaelthazar's topic in Creativity, Spirituality & Philosophy
No luck from me... I borrowed the version I read, but dug it so much that I think I'll fork out for it (and the sequel). -
Now... THIS was my absolute favourite movie as a kid, alongside "Yellow Submarine". My old man used to let us watch one of these flicks on special occasions. Um... in hindsight, I guess I was kind of destined to become a psychonaught. I was a massive Beatles fan in primary school and knew I wanted to be like John Lennon and try LSD someday. In fact, my wishful thinking was that I was Lennon re-incarnated. Pretty disappointed when I realized I was born a few years before he got shot. As for Allegro, I don't know which is the best segment... Afternoon of the Fawn or the Bollero? Man, just thinking about it I want to watch it again. Thanks for the reminder TST. Anyone who hasn't seen it, check the foreign film section of your video store to see if they've got it.

UP was full on. I think it's the first movie I've ever seen in my life where I cried in the first ten minutes. Man... these aren't kid's movies anymore. Wall-E was excellent as well.

Thanks Torsten. Thanks to Shortly as well.

So... am I making a mistake by giving my viridis bottom heat and putting a plant protector over the pot? Without spending a fortune on lights, what's my best course of action?
-
I'm jealous!! I went out photographing fungus yesterday at a few of my hot spots in Melb's outer east and came across lots of look-a-likes but no real cigars. I reckon it's about a week away for me. What general area were you walking Mt.B?

I've just been out today thinking of a way to keep my viridis happy over winter. My plan was to come back home tonight and search the forums for info (I did do a search, link to most useful topic here( http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=23766&view=&hl=viridis%20winter&fromsearch=1 )... but since you've posted this, Tripsis, I'll piggy-back on your post (hope you don't mind). I've currently got the pot sitting under a humidity dome and, underneath the pot, a heat pad set to 25 degrees. Can anyone offer a better (and not over-the-top) way to do this? I'd like to avoid a full-on lights set-up because my wife would not be impressed with me spending that sort of money on keeping a pot-plant alive.
