    Meet up: Brisbane

I'll be down in Brissy on Sunday for another event I have to attend in the morning, so it's doubtful I'll drive down 2 days in a row. If peeps go with Saturday have a few for me

    Consciousness is weird

I tend to believe that mycellium has close to what we would call a human consciousness...
  3. Just to echo gtarman, I read a fair bit of buddhist literature, although I am not buddhist, and I think it is pertinent to raise the concept of nutriments in this discussion. The basic idea is that whatever we expose ourselves to has an impact on us, positive or negative. Food, drugs, media, anything you take into your being by way of your senses. I gave these types of flicks away a long time ago, partially because I watched a shitload of them through my youth, but also because depictions of human misery effect me, in what I would consider a negative way. As I say that fucking Killer Inside Me still bounces around in my consciousness to this day, and what benefit do I get from that? Anger? Disgust? Frustration? All I can do without. That's not to say I'm criticising people's choices in terms of what they expose themselves to, we are all responsible adults here... do and watch what you like, just that there is an illusion we (I) sometimes present (my)ourselves with; namely "It's only make-believe", and that therefore I can walk away from a film unaffected. /endrant

Cacked me out. Only because it's true... sigh
  6. The Killer Inside Me - Didn't even finish watching it. Violence against women makes me want to get violent against men
  7. As a wise someone once expressed it to me: "The vine has called you now, it's only a matter of time" Your intention is obviously set, now of course is the waiting game. I agree completely with sentiments expressed recently, in that this site is expressly NOT for straight hit ups re illicits. Such behaviour not only puts you and others at risk, but in the end the whole community as well. Martyrdom will not see you in the position that you seek, Mother Aya certainly can't reach you in a cell. INSERT CLICHE: 'All things come to (s)he who waits...' AND 'Patience is a virtue' Good luck, and please know I am smiling as I type this. I look forward to your meeting for you, as I'm sure you'll get there in the end.

famous people you know or have met.

I once holidayed with Phil Jameson from Grinspoon, and even got mirror barreled with him on my boog!
  9. The thing I find most worrying about his comments are that he implies that he, and the government/agency he works for, should be the ones who have the say, not the people/voters. Who the fuck does he think he is? Also, as bot says, where has legalisation failed again? Oh, that's right, FUCKING NOWHERE you fear mongering piece of shit.

    Meet up: Brisbane

Is anyone keen for a meet on the Australia Day Sunday? (26th) Thought I'd put it out there...
  13. I have that book! Would recommend it also. You might also enjoy A Zen Harvest which is a compilation of Japanese folk Zen sayings, in the form of Haiku, Dodoitsu and Waka. Worth a read at any rate.
  14. 'We are confident this system works well and that the border is fully protected.' Bahahahahahahaha! That's funny
  15. Don't get me started on this. My whole website is devoted to the comparison of harms caused by alcohol when compared to those by cannabis. This article is pretty pertinent to this issue, imo. http://www.responsiblechoice.com.au/uncategorized/alcohol-is-lethal/

Campbell Newman gets behind medicinal pot.

Decriminalisation is bullshit, and certainly not what we need as Australians, nor as human beings. The ludicrous nature of prohibition of cannabis has made nature even more illegal, and really how can any man do that. We ARE nature. This comment is certainly not intended to be an attack on the poster by the way. Someone recently described to me the ridiculous nature of decriminalisation in South Australia, in that if you want to grow marijuana in SA and stay within the law as much as possible, you pretty much have to import feminised seed (because of the one plant rule & no one in Australia supplies feminised seed). In effect, existing drug laws encourage breaking customs law. We need complete legalisation at least, but a full repeal of prohibition and the legalisation and regulation of all drugs would be sensible imo. It is cool that there is some movement politically but it is sooo far behind common sense and best practice internationally Australia's position on cannabis won't be tenable for much longer, especially considering we said to the Yanks "How high master?" when they told us to jump and sign the Single Convention on Narcotics in 1961. They have a WAAAYY more lenient perspective on cannabis, even though their federal government is a fucking joke. It's been put out there recently actually by the Australia 21 Drug Report, http://www.responsiblechoice.com.au/cannabis/australia21drugreport/ but we need to put it out there to our representatives, as in we want change in this area, and get some conversations happening. Groups researching and collaborating to produce reports on drugs seemingly have fuck all effect on policy in our country unfortunately, but real people talking about real issues and stories might.

Buderim is heaps closer for everyone I would wager, as, even though I literally live in the suburb next to Kenilworth, the Fig Walk is still a fair trek ( > 1hr). I also just took the fam out to the Forest Park on Halcyon's advice on NYD. It's really beautiful, and looks like there will be a nice shady spot for a natter.

    Yep, I'm in.
  22. Fukishima is fucked, so is Japan. Their children are sick, therefore their future is questionable. For the record, and I repeat, their CHILDREN ARE SICK. What the fuck are people talking about shit like "Oh, only a couple of small-scale incidents...." and "We need energy...". This energy is not meant for us, and if you have any concept of human beings actually existing on this earth as a life-form akin to all other life on this planet, and therefore being totally reliant on this planet for nourishment and further life, then surely you can see that. We don't need it, that argument is entirely intellectual and foolish, if it poisons us, the earth and there are clean alternatives. Can't eat their food, children are going to live short and painful lives, and their land and economic infrastructure is in ruins, for who knows how long into the future. Yep, nuclear must be the go then aye? Good trolling topic though, maybe I should start with the counter-point that nuclear radiation is actually good for you....?
  23. Unfortunately we as a society have been lulled into the false sense that food actually comes from these places. Likewise, unfortunately we are in for a rude shock the day that these supermarkets close and don't open again. It will happen eventually because their practices, both business and the types of agriculture they encourage, are patently unsustainable. Grow your own stuff, shop local, and fuck the system yo!

    The truth.

I think it is healthy to ponder the in-ponderables, however I don't believe that there is 'a' truth. Only yours.
