GoOnThen Posted November 10, 2012 (edited) Here are some of the grafts that still look well enough to show. I have battled all sots of bugs over the last few months and a lot of my grafts have suffered as you will be able to see from the group shot. All of the grafts in the first pic except the blue pot were done from seed sown after 1-11-11 This is the only one that I have at the moment that looks like it might flower. Come on you lot post your pics Cheers Got Edited November 10, 2012 by GoOnThen

Jox Posted November 19, 2012 Well done GOT!! I reckon you've beaten 2Deep by a couple of weeks (I saw his grafts last week & there cranking!) I would love to be involved in the next comp, If new members are keen I have some spare Peres here & some LW tex seed as well, so seed me a PM & I will sort something out ( Maybe a peice of peres & 10 seeds? ) Someone else has to set up a start date & let us know the rule & regs, as I like to go with the flow Cheers jox
tipz Posted November 19, 2012 What are your secrets GOT ? HPS, MH, CFL ? growth hormones ? Do you play them music and caress them as the lights go out ? You really do have a green thumb man. Nice work !!!!!

GoOnThen Posted November 19, 2012 Thanks guys. I haven't done any thing special other than try and keep them warm over winter ( they still did slow down a bit ) and feed them occasionally. I thought I was in trouble a few months ago when I must have had every pest that you could think of move into my grow area. All of my grafts were re potted with a new mix and into smaller pots as well. The ones that I have taken pics of are all of the bigger ones I do have a number of runts that have only started really growing in the last few months. The one that is about to flower was one of about eight attempts to graft onto trich stock with very young seedlings. Out of the eight I only had five take and that one is by far the biggest. What I did work out was grafting onto small pups was the best way to go and the smaller the better and to apply a small amount of pressure. The pressure needs to be enough to push down on the scion but not to much to squash it as I found out the hard way As far as lighting goes they are under four foot daylight fluro's at they moment but for some time they were under NEC Biolux HG fluro's ( bought from bunnings ) which I did like but it made all of my grafts a very dark green so I changed them over but I will try them again for a whole year to see what happens with flowering. Hopefully when I get home tonight the flower will be open But I must admit I had recently been thinking I wouldn't see a flower for another six months as none of them had really been looking that promising. Come on 2Deep lets see what you have got. I think everyone should post pics so it is on record of what a group of mainly inexperienced grafters can do in twelve months. Cheers Got
2Deep2Handle Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) Not even 12 months for me yet GOT ;). I had 2 LW grafts for the comp, which happened to be my FIRST EVER ATTEMPT at GRAFTING. Back at the end of 2011, i had only been into gardening for just over a year, and it was my first 2 L.W grafts that fed my addiction in cacti like the plague! One fell off late feburary 2012, and is significantly bigger than their brothers and sisters that are hard grown(see just below), but still no where as big as the one that stayed on!(see just below) I dont rekon its too far off budding either...what you think fellow members? Some of my grafting antics can be seen below the one I had in the comp, which is the first row of pictures. Congratulations GOT - Beat me too it! Don't mind coming second though!, and amazing considering we were both extreme noobs, and still only just novices :D. Also a big thankyou to all who participated, and had me constantly checking this thread to check out the newest growth on all our 'Peyotzl on stocks'. As you can see, this comp was merely the beginning of what I can envision as a life long obsession for me! Peace ladies and gentlemen 2Deep Edited November 20, 2012 by 2Deep2Handle

GoOnThen Posted November 21, 2012 Nice big healthy looking grafts 2Deep The comp has been a great way to learn techniques and sort out problems with old ones. I am also now trying a number of different stocks and working a way to mass produce pere stock. Well my little bud has got me all excited and then has done nothing. My experience with grafts flowering is nil I was only going of how long it take for my other Loph's flowers to open from when I first see a bud. But after thinking about it more I only see the buds once the poke up through the fur so I have no idea how long they have been hidden down in the fur before I see them. Could someone tell me how long I will have to wait for this flower to open I wouldn't call this comp as being over as yet until there is a flower actually open. Who knows mine could just sit like this for the next month and someone else could still snatch the win. Cheers Got
