Love all these photos :) I'll have to get the camera out and contribute. I'm living about as close to the border of suburbia and rurality (??) as possible, beautiful place but a very noisy main road out the front :ana:

I can't complain (well, not too much :P) but I'm definitely looking forward to finding somewhere that will allow me to get a-cultivatin' -- my landlords are impeccably neat and probably wouldn't appreciate my style of gardening (free-for-all...)

I'll be settling for some hanging baskets once I figure out what I want to grow :)

Reviving this thread with a couple of visitors tonight.. Heaviest rain in yonks brought these ancient critters, Fletcher's Frog or Sandpaper Frog, Lechriodus fletcheri, out of the forest floor for a root in my bird bath

And not so much of a backyard visitor - but a back of bed one a few weeks ago. Was lying in bed reading a magazine close to midnight (couldn't sleep) when I felt a movement about 10cm to my right.. Twas the critter in the photo attached. A 1.2m long (and deadly) Stephens Banded Snake, Hoplocephalus stephensii  - it was a chilly night and she was looking to snuggle under my doona.. A bit freaky....

Not sure how this fits in with ecology, but I was pretty stoked to see these two Fallow deer on our bush block recently.

A few critters I’ve seen around our backyard/block in recent months. I love the colour of the bower bird’s eyes.

We get regent bower birds up here as well, they are absolutely stunning! I only ever catch a glimpse though, I’ve never been able to get a photo.
