Brendo Posted March 17, 2016 I planted this Datura wrightii in the ground about a week ago and I think this is the happiest I've ever seen one of my plants so soon after transplant. My chillis take a week or so to pick up again but this guy looks happy as Larry
sagiXsagi Posted March 18, 2016 ^^^ hey is that chilli "bolivian rainbow" ? I am trying it this year and who is that Larry guy, he seems like the dude to know, happy and all
Brendo Posted March 18, 2016 (edited) Yes, tis Bolivian Rainbow mutant Absolutely love my chilli and this is definitely my favourite looking plant, not as much flavour as I hoped for and the pods are full of seeds so not great to eat straight off the tree but an excellent ornamental nonetheless. Quite hardy too, I think you'll have fun with it. I must recommend the Aji Omnicolour too, moderate heat, excellent Baccatum flavour and extremely productive! At the moment I'm currently growing; 3 x Chocolate Habanero 1 x Red Habanero 2 x Trinidad Moruga Scorpion 1 x Trinidad Scorpion Yellow 2 x Trinidad Scorpion Chocolate 1 x Trinidad 7 Pod Pink 2 x Carolina Reapers 1 x Anaheim 1 x Naga Bon (Naga Jolokia x Scotch Bonnet) 1 x Aji Omnicolour 1 x Bolivian Rainbow I've just sown an Orange Habanero, 3 Thai varieties, Bird's Beak, Fatalii and Negros. All these seeds were courtesy of members here ofcourse Anything you can recommend? What's your favourite? Edited March 18, 2016 by Brendo
RogerColgreen Posted March 19, 2016 Busy Busy. Had a going Bc vine, cut 20 piece off to keep it under control. Put them in water. Four looked like they might root; two did root. One put out 1" roots, the other put out 4" roots in the same time. The mother plant was strong, so I didn't plant them right away. After about 3 weeks, the stems turned black and died. So, yeah, MENTAL NOTE: RIGHT when the roots get 1" long, THAT's the time to plant. Had 5 boxes of P.v. seed in small plastic boxes in a 90 degree prop-box. Getting 3-4 germinations out of 20 in each one, sown 1 Jan. (Now 18 March) Also had TONS of extra seed in papertowels. (Arrange nine seeds in a matrix on one quarter of the paper-towel; fold into quarters; stack four paper towels in tupperware; place in hot box. This actually worked out very well. Got theobroma cacao tree and achacha tree, also in hot-box. Also on seedling rack: Pilosocereus pentaedrophorus, pkt said 20 seeds, got 21 seedlings, 105% germination! Plus two boxes of mixed astros.Am reseraching industrial sifters, as I'm not happy with my cactus mix, which is old potting mix, boiled. Too much organic matter, particles too small. Will get a few bags of decomposed granite and run it through the sifters, so that I have 1-3mm grit. Then I will be brave enough to try ariocarpus and other non-soggy-growing cacti from seed. DG is cheap enough, but the sifters will probably cost me $30 apiece. You're supposed to get a tower of 6 or 8, for hundreds of dollars, but I just need two. So I'm getting some vintage, steam-punk looking ones, a mismatched set, but they'll do the job. ---Roger
Strontium Dawg Posted March 19, 2016 I cut back a bunch of vines that had grown over my neighbours fence and been unceremoniously thrown back into my yard. Collected a couple of hundred heavenly blue seed pods in the process. Also took a few cuts from the caapi vine to propagate into more vines. And checked out the myc growth in the sub patch. Hopefully it'll be a good year.

theuserformallyknownasd00d Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) Admired a Caapi I put in the ground 12 mths ago as a small cutting. Now it's weighing the maidenii down with all its growth! This is one of many sections as chest height already thick as. There are parts where the vine is choking the acacia with its tendrils, it looks sick but I can't photograph it cos it's too high! Edit tried I take a pic and uploaded it Edited March 22, 2016 by theuserformallyknownasd00d

Strontium Dawg Posted March 28, 2016 I laid down some caapi sections to propagate for my own garden and to give to a friend. Then I meditated under my obtusifolia tree with some frankincense and myrrh incense. It's so nice at this time of year.
theuserformallyknownasd00d Posted March 28, 2016 It's not too late to do Caapi probs in Syd? I was thinking I got plenty of material to use but they wouldn't work now?
Strontium Dawg Posted March 28, 2016 I gave it a go. My vine had to be cut back anyway, so I had nuthin to lose by dippin it in some iaa and planting. The tub should keep it pretty warm til it gets some roots going.
