  1. Yeah they get misted everyday. I have ones in the zip bag too but they seem fine. I am really happy with the debco, first time using it, but ot drains really well. I will move them away from the window and see how it goes.
  2. Hi all, I searched the forums for the answer but to no avail. I made psych. Leaf cuttings over a fortnight ago, some of the leaves are browning. One of the browning in one pot is creeping down at quite a pace. I used debco proagation mix and they are next to a window in the shed, with humidity domes. temps inside get up to 38 C during the day. Is this temp too high and could they be getting too much light? I understand that some browning is expected, but they have only been in there a fortnight. Thanks.
  3. I bought some plants from someone and they had this out the front. Apparently a type of sap oozes from it every now and then, this is just a cutting I took.
  4. Is it possible to tell what type if it is a datura? Cheers.
  5. 1) Yes, but it won't be sterile (possible contams.) You could cut the mushroom up in a sterile environment and do a tissue culture with agar. 2) As a beginner, BRF/Verm. mix is super easy. Rye flour and coffee grounds works well too, however rye flour contams. easier due to the lengthened inoculation and spawning period compared to BRF. There are many recipes, but depending on what size jar/glass you use, just measure out 1/4 BRF 3/4 Verm. add water and mix with water until damp but not soaking. 3) You can also use wide mouth drinking glasses, just use double folded aluminium foil as a lid (just be aware that cheap glass tends to break with rapid heating/cooling, so be patient when pressure cooking). As far as sterile environments go, as a beginner you will win some and lose some. You can set up a full glovebox if you're into making things. But, if you just pay extra careful attention to your procedure and contamination you will be fine. Just give it a go. You will surprise yourself.
  6. I am keen for a meetup. I am a uni student so have more time than most to spare lol
  7. I find it highly disturbing that this debate still needs validation. If 98% of scientists said the bridge you were about to cross was going to fail, would you still cross it? A bad analogy, but you get my point.
  8. When you do a graft using the top half, there is obviously the bottom half left. Both halves are equally useful for grafts so it seems, to me anyway, to leave the bottom half in the soil is counter productive. People think they're ugly, but hey if it works.
  9. I did a bum graft a while back. Quite successful, however mine had aerioles. The pups grow from the aerioles, so not sure of whether they will be a success or not.
  10. I had a nice surprise today. I checked on the 50 or so caapi seeds I planted about a fortnight ago, 5 have sprouted roots! They are now individually potted up, eagerly awaiting the little leaves to pop their heads from the seed.
  11. Yeah I will give it a trim and see if i can get some cuttings out of it at the same time.
  12. I have only just repotted about a week ago. I wish I could plant it in the ground but I rent at the moment and the dogs like digging in the garden. I will stop watering twice a week and see how it goes. My potting mix is well draining, so I doubt the roots are staying wet when I water it.
  13. Hi, I have had this Khat for a few years now, I will admit I have neglected it. However I have just repotted it into decent potting mix and have been watering it about twice a week with weak seasol solution (it is hot here in perth at the moment, so thought twice a week watering was justified). I just want to know what else I can do to get it into top shape again. It has only had leaves on the top, but it has started growing leaves on the lower stems. Should I cut it back? Fertilise with something else? Thanks.
  14. If you have negotiated with them and they don't care, poison it. If it is on your side of the fence you have every right to poison what is on 'your' side. If that happens to affect what is on the other side woops. But that's me, and I am a bit of an arsehole when it comes to neighbours that don't care.
  15. After receiving psychotria nexus, carth., and viridis leaves from a generous member of the forum, i have began an experiment to determine whether the soil method or zip bag method will provide shoots the fastest. I also potted up some cacti cuts i made a fortnight ago.
  16. I have 6 or so that I received from a member a while back. I never got around to planting them. You are welcome to them. PM your addy and I'll send them.
  17. Instead of being concerned about piracy, why don't they look at a solution to the issue. In Australia we only really have access to the Murdoch owned monopoly that is Foxtel, an overpriced service for what it delivers. People who were, IMO, doing the right thing by setting up a VPN so they could use Netflix as PAYING customers were booted from using the service. Why is it acceptable to wait a month to watch something. The worst that can happen is they give you a warning. If you don't abide, they just curb your internet speed. That is saying that your internet provider has the resources to monitor it and you aren't using a VPN.
  18. Hey, if anyone has some leaves they would like to share, so I can make some clones, that would be much appreciated. Alternatively, if anyone in WA has a specimen they wanted to sell I would be interested in that also. Thanks in advance.
  19. Cheers everyone. Instead of using the seaweed extract I will try watering with a mild hydroponic solution. Searching through the forum I can see that I have possibly underwatered and under fed them. Once every couple of weeks over sumer is clearly not enough.
