Rinsewind Posted February 8, 2006 Hi, Can anyone post any comprehensive lists of what species are psychoactive? - And are Trichocerus and Echinopsis names interchangeable? and if so, are all Echinopsis psychoactive?
-YT- Posted February 8, 2006 Hi there Rinsewind, Check out the Ethno Wikki for a comprehensive list of active Trichocereus and their alkaloid profiles all those funky Phenethylamines http://www.ethnobotanica.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page Hope that helps you out mate
Rev Posted February 8, 2006 Thats only a starting point many of those will be inactive and some others not listed are already known to be active even more confusing is that the same cactus isnt always active hahaha welcome to the conundrum
Dodie Posted February 9, 2006 Trichs have already been placed into Echinopsis...that happend awhile ago... But most ppl dont recognise this, Trichocereus sounds much better.. and well we all love them.. Not all Echinopsis are active nor are all Trichs... But i'd still love to have a whole collection of Trichs One can dream
zee_werp Posted February 9, 2006 (edited) Do take note though that the majority of the cacti in that list are impractical for useage, and many are also reported to contain some very unpleasant / potentially neurotoxic alkaloids. Gunter Posted February 10, 2006 I think a list of cacti frequently employed as entheogens, as well as of cacti ideal for such employment, would be much shorter.

zee_werp Posted February 11, 2006 I'm not trying to continue the 'parinoid' spin on this thread, but whats up with when it has 'Google.com' in the list of users online at the bottom of the main forum page? Weird stuff.

zee_werp Posted February 12, 2006 Glad to see that this book finally came out. Still waiting till I can afford it. Can anyone tell me what it ended up saying about euphorbia obesa? (the round geometrical cactus in the top right pic). I remember there was some speculation about this back when the cover image was released but long before it was actually published. prier Posted February 13, 2006 Can anyone tell me what it ended up saying about euphorbia obesa? As far as can gather there's no really good info on euphorbia in this book. It's mentioned on a few occasions mainly just as additives to other preperations.
