caludia Posted September 13, 2005 looks fantastic. great web site too. Can't wait! http://www.jankounen.com/v3/common/index.p...index&langu=eng "On locations in Mexico and Peru for BLUEBERRY, Jan discovered Shamanism and the Shipibo-Conibos culture, and fell in love with it. He spent several months there filming a feature-length documentary: OTHER WORLDS (2004). He also created a fund raising association: SPIRIT OF THE ANACONDA and a TV series of one hour documentaries: ANOTHER REALITY." Would be great to see those docos... i definitely maintain that "Dean Man" by Jim Jarmusch was an awesome psychedelic western too... [ 13. From all this I can assure you that the journey part in "Blueberry" is primarily inspired by Jan's encounter with the Shipibo shaman Guillermo Arévalo/Kestambetsa, and, of course, the ayahuasca experience. A major clue in "Blueberry" is Guillermo playing almost his own role (the old shaman who dies in the first part, and reappears during the final journey). All the people who did participate to a ceremony lead by Guillermo in his center ("Espiritu de Anaconda") during the Iquitos conference know the kind of decoction one drinks there: Definitely not something with mescaline in it... In the documentary film about "Blueberry", Guillermo explains that he allowed Jan to get a hint of Shipibo ayahuasca shamanism in order to present it to Westerners, and Jan says that he made his best to render the visions he had during his initiation with Guillermo. He also precises that he sought Guillermo's help on some specific contents (one actually sees how they did collaborate on a serpent-spirit visual that appears the first time Blueberry drinks the unnamed potion, in the forest)." -- heh, I drank with Guillermo during the conference... and then someone told me he was in blueberry and was the inspiration for some of it... I have yet to see it...the best bet is to buy it on DVD or obtain a renegade version... Julian.

Rev Posted February 19, 2006 Buying CDs and books o/s is easy but can ayone give me the basics on the pitfalls of getting dvds? ad specifically where can i buy this film thatll play on an aussie dvd player
apothecary Posted February 19, 2006 (edited) Easier to spend $50-80 get a cheapass dvd player Rev, one that doesn't handle region encoding at all. That way you can play dvds from anywhere you like. The cheapest Dick Smith (DSE brand) dvd players are a good example. http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefro...duct/View/G1928 (make sure you talk to the guy, ask if the thing can change region more than once or twice, you don't wanna get locked into the US one after watching something on a region1) Oh yeah always a good idea to check ezdvd.com.au before going overseas. Sometimes they'll order from overseas for you, saves you the trouble of hooking up with dodgy suppliers. Edited February 19, 2006 by apothecary
