Andrew Posted May 8, 2003 Hi Yeti,it seems to be able to handle the frost. We rarely get frost here as I live across the road from the beach but approx 1 km inland they do regularly, in winter. It grows on the coast and inland.
coin Posted September 15, 2003 so does anyone have cordifolia, material of seed? had been reading a lot about this in indian books, and only just realised it contains ephedrine.. i spoke to an ayurvedic practitioner who said he doesn't stock or use it cos it's prohibited..?? is that right? Plantsoma Posted September 16, 2003 Mr Yeti101, Sida rhombifolia is a weed in a lot of councils including Newcastle. Ive spotted this weed at near roadside scrub, reserves etc. all over Newcastle and the hunter. So youll be doin the natives a favour by removing it I have lots of product, just dont know how best to prepare it etc. There doesnt seem to be any readily available info on the net to do with extraction etc. Perhaps those familiar with these alkaloids may know of a technique? Torsten Posted September 16, 2003 steam distillation might be the cheapest and easiest way. a simple ethanol extraction could also be used to decrease the volume first. I can't say if sida actually has an ephedrine effect, but the tea is definitely uplifting and refreshing.
t st tantra Posted September 16, 2003 a tobacco pipe full of rhobifolia is stimulating and at times euphoric,a bit harsh for regular smoking.a tea of leaves and stems, say at least 2 heaped t spoons is stimulant enough to move your bowels within half an hour.the root was different in effect and the dose a lot higher.a native species from sa and nsw was stimulant but with a slightly different effect. a small beetle seems to appear and infest the seeds each year. i had a good harvest of seeds this year and have a bit spare. t s t .
