Tayoooooo Posted January 17, 2016 Wondering if anyone has any loph pollen stashed away? I have a lonely plant that's just setting its second ever flower. I have a few bits and bobs I can trade with.

mauve Posted January 17, 2016 Some are self fertile some are not; it depends of the locality-strain. Usually the mexican southern forms are self sterile and the northern, east Texans (like "texana") are self fertile.
Master B Posted January 17, 2016 Mate mauve is completely right!! And the southern specimen sticks out like dogs balls! The stigma is generally much much longer than the northern... Keeping it high above the anthers and self sterile. But in my experience this is very rare and chances are you have a much more common northern specimen. Just have a fiddle with the anthers on the stigma. Take all this with a grain of salt mate as i dont have a southern myself. Cheers B
