zed240 Posted January 8, 2015 I acquired a small number of lophs that were very heavily damaged by mites. So much so that I thought they might not survive on their own roots. Due to this I grafted two of them and left the others. Thankfully the ones I left on their own roots are all still alive albeit quite ugly as they are only just starting to push new pups out of their scaly-ness. All of the others, grafted on their own roots, seem to be pushing out normal looking pups that are green. This graft pushed out pink pups and as the pups get bigger they still don't seem to be getting any greener. It gets about 5 hours of direct sun and bright, semi-shaded light at the other times. It's grafted to PC pach that was very well rooted and about 40cm high. So what do you think? Any chance this has turned into some kind of variegate or will it sort itself out and go back to green over the coming months? only a few weeks after grafting a couple of weeks or so later Most recent pics - another couple of weeks after the one above
Master B Posted January 9, 2015 Pretty confident that it will turn back to green when its adjusted to the sun. Ive had a few do that when they were out in full sun. But it looks cool
zed240 Posted January 9, 2015 Pretty confident that it will turn back to green when its adjusted to the sun. Ive had a few do that when they were out in full sun. But it looks cool I thought the same about it going back to green once it was used to full sun, but it's been in the same spot with full sun since it was grafted back in early November. It did have a stocking over it for the first 2 weeks while the graft was fresh. I was thinking that should maybe have been long enough to have reverted back to green, but who knows!? It does look cool at the moment though.
theuserformallyknownasd00d Posted January 9, 2015 Is it just me or does the 2nd last pic have tinges of green on it?
Philocacti Posted January 9, 2015 I believe it'll turn back to green once it gets used to the sun. If you want to test it, cover the graft with shading cloth for some time and check the new growth
