EG.... Can you elaborate on how you ID it as a williamsii?

And a caestopsa? Without having pupped in 2-3 years?

I'd like to know how to ID one at that age too.

If they don't have flowers or pups I'd could only guess.

Nice little plant, looking at how dark green it is I would say it would be a willy but I would disagree with EG about in being caespitosa. I have grown a far few willly var caespitosa from seed & all of them have pupped at a very young age.

It looks like a williamsii to me. Nice uniform ribs and dark green color. But I don't understand why you would think caespitosa. Can you eleborate? My from seed caesps have started pupping at like .5 cm.

Hi hostilis, well, it's actually the most common type in germany and it just looks alot like it. Had like 40 of them in the past and this one just gives me the caespitosa feels. The texture of the skin, color, Areole position etc are very similar to it. Please post more pics when its bigger. Personally speaking, i have no doubt. Can certainly be wrong but i would be surprised.

So what does this look to you like?

I bought it a week ago, it's a pup from a crest and I want to know if it's caestiposae or not.....of course I could wait but it'd be interesting to know what you think.

It's throwing a flower bud but I doubt it'll bloom as I just placed it in a very sunny place but next by the next flower I'll be able to say if it's williamsii or another species

Probably not the caespitose form that´s all over Europe. But that´s a good Thing in my Opinion. In Europe, these are a lot more rare.

I like regular lophophoras over caestiposae too.... Not cuz they're rare but just they're appearance ;)
