Tool announce 2013 Australian tour

340.jpg

Tool will be back in Australia this April and May to play a handful of massive arena shows.

The visit will give some respite to fans holding out for a new album from the prog-rock giants - it's been 7 years since their last effort 10,000 Days.

Although details surrounding the follow up record have been typically mysterious, the Australian tour press release notes the band will be "taking time from recording their highly anticipated fifth studio album" to fly to Australia, New Zealand and Japan for shows towards the middle of the year.

The record is expected sometime in 2013 and the band has promised Australian fans they'll be some of the first in the world to hear their new material at the shows.

For frontman Maynard James Keenan, Tool will be the third band he's fronted in Australia this year. He's other projects A Perfect Circle and Puscifer are due in the country in just a couple of weeks for Soundwave.

I don't know you you you kids and your electronic music. :P

Not Sabbath but hey you just have to rock :)

In the beginning

Back in nineteen fifty five

Man didn't know 'bout a rock 'n' roll show

'N all that jive

The white man had the schmaltz

The black man had the blues

No one knew what they was gonna do

But Tschaikovsky had the news, he said

Let there be sound, and there was sound

Let there be light, and there was light

Let there be drums, there was drums

Let there be guitar, there was guitar, ah

Let there be rock

And it came to pass

That rock 'n' roll was born

All across the land every rockin' band

Was blowin' up a storm

And the guitar man got famous

The business man got rich

And in every bar there was a superstar

With a seven year itch

There was fifteen million fingers

Learnin' how to play

And you could hear the fingers pickin'

And this is what they had to say

Let there be light, sound, drums, 'n guitar, ah

Let there be rock

One night in a club called the Shakin' Hand

There was a 42 decibel rockin' band

And the music was good

And the music was loud

And the singer turned and he said to the crowd

Let there be rock

Cheers

Got

I'll pre-empt this by saying that I am a Tool obsessive, but I believe that they can no longer deliver a solid performance.

Save your money and spend it on the Black Sabbath back-catalogue from 1970 to 1973.

I am more excited about the prospect of a new album (which will be their last ever)

bullshit ! tool shows r fukin amazing!! i love sabbath [when i was 18] but fuck me they r 60 or sooooooooooooo no longer to deliver a solid performance!! lol

triple j textline.

"T00L TUESDAY!", it reads on Tuesday.

"T00L THURSDAY!", they say two days later on the other day of the week that starts with t.

So it's no real surprise that some of the biggest reactions to Tool's tour news came via the textline this morning.

I've seen Sabbath recently in the states, they do not have it anymore, and yes Maynard was definitely off on his 2011/12 tour but I reckon the guys are still solid as ever.

Awww, c'mon Psylo! :o

Yeah, it would be great to see Black Sabbath, but they're skipping Adelaide. At least Tool is coming here. Still, I've got a lot of respect for the pioneers of metal, and I'm looking forward to hearing their new album. 4 more months!
