What did you do in your sacred garden today?

Recommended Posts

This morning I started setting up my 52ltr tub/green house and have been monitoring the sun to see where the best spot to put it will be, as It gets really hot out this way. I'm pretty sure I've found the optimal spot to get morning and afternoon sun for my mimosas that are germinating. I watered my acacia baileyana purpurea, which has started getting some purple foliage

I also made an arid species seedling mix out of:

1 part premium potting soil

1 part mixed sized river sand

1 part 3-5mm river sand

2 parts compost

handful or two of agr. lime

Letting it sit in the sun today to dry it out, then will plant some cacti and other arid species over the coming day.

The only difference from my normal routine of watering my plants, was to kick my greyhound off one of my garden beds. She thought it would make a great place to lay down, luckily I haven't planted anything in it yet.

Took a couple of Sinuichi plants inside.....it is getting colder here.......

They had flowered, and started forming seeds.

I want them to finish, before I change the amount/ time of light they get each day

I saw my mandrakes were asking for water (withered leaves) and watered them and those cacti that would appecite one watering more before the upcoming rains.

I have learnt I should not water this time of year, I have removed all sensitive to automn-winter overwatering species, but only bridgesii has failed due to that on my roof and than in more wet and cold conditions.

I have lots of freshly repotted myrti breast , pachanoi crest and other trichos, not mentioning a range of trich seedlings coming to maturity on the roof. They are supposed to spend the winter there.

Happy mushroom season to the locations involved.

Planted out skullcap and sage. Took geranium cuttings. Planted bulbs and watered bonsai. Did some little grafts.

The weather has been very unsettled lately. Stormy and windy roughly 4-5 days per week! Although its good because it means lots of fresh rainwater for the garden, and less carrying buckets of water up the stairs for me :)

crazy weather. Hasn't rained for over 15 days.

its been very shiny for us. I keep saying I wont water again in my roof, and yet I find my self tempted to, as we 're having some real warm end October days. you can be in shorts and T-shirts at day warm. when sun falls, its a different story.

Went to collect the last of my things from my outdoor summer garden, and bring a few odds and ends inside.

On the path to my garden, among the deer and turkey tracks, we're very clear bobcat footprints.

Big ones, and smaller ones.....a mother and kitten?

They had been stalking the deer and wild turkeys.

....probably with hopes of getting a turkey.....those birds are very smart in the wild, and hyper sensitive to everything....

If you even look at them funny, they will know it and respond....

post-12633-0-11446300-1383925499_thumb.pWalked back out...or, outback.......to the property, clearing a space for a new greenhouse.

I have seen the bobcat several times.

It stalks the turkeys, mostly, and follows deer, dreaming of a takedown,

and that it is three times its real size....you know how serious cats get when they hunt!

At first when I saw it, I thought it was some nice old ladys fat little dog that got lost.

It was medium sized, chubby, and had a very short tail.

The 'cat always ran away before I could get a very good look at it,

but when I checked the footprints, I saw it was a Fee-Lion!

While watering my plants today I noticed something unexpected. I planted some peganum seeds over 6 weeks ago and haven't watered them for about three weeks thinking they wouldn't take. Lo and behold, one seedling has popped up. I guess it is true that they thrive when being abused. Hope it continues to grow and doesn't die.

Here's the little fella

And something else (unknown) that has seemed to pop up in there at the same time.

I just found two of my B. Caapi seeds had germinated :-)

Hoping they establish well.

I've also just rooted a blosser so I have two of those now and 4 rooted Bunnell plants.

If anyone wants a free Bunnel (Wasson Hoffman) Salvia Divinorum cutting and lives somewhere where I'm allowed to post you one, let me know :-)

Hey mutant, no this is my first run with henbane. Sorry I got the name wrong, they are actually henbane albus - white henbane.

I dunno how white became yellow in my mind! I was recently sent some black henbane seed which I will sow soon. I haven't seen any of the flowers in person but they sure are enchanting! The seed head is very impressive too. Can't wait to see them in person, I figure they'll fit right in in my magical garden.

Watered my lady and her sister as well as gave them a nice misting smothered them with admiration and love. Marvelled at my cute little Morning Glory seedling as its popping out its second set of leaves and simply enjoyed my passion fruit vines, kiwi vines (or chinese gooseberries if you prefer that) then the nicely establishing tomatoes, pumpkin, carrots and silver beet.
