Stillman Posted February 24, 2014 Its been a long time since I updated these are some of my degrafted cacti in the ground also some freaks and bits and pieces. All the cacti I grew from seed, a lot coming from PD oldest would be 2 years just, they are truly incredibly fast growing and seem to like my conditions in SEQLD. JB open pollinated these have never been grafted heaps of variation in these seedlings. One of the sacred succulents peruvianus from memory sso2 x sso1 I'll have to check. J3 open pollinated My favourite seedlings from PD very fat and very vigorous Rosei 1 x fields pach JB open pollinated in the ground Psycho0 x spachianus albino grafts J3op crest own roots (SS02 x SS01) f2 crest (I think I lost the tag) TBM going long

Stillman Posted February 24, 2014 That plant is a cracker the photo doesn't do it justice has black and red spines. really chunky its still on peres graft that I have buried trying to get it to throw its own roots.
Jox Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks for the update mate , Everything is looking nice & healthy. I have to agree with bot6, that Psycho0 x spach looks awesome. Now when you get some time can you update the Astro thread . Cheers Jox
Philocacti Posted February 24, 2014 Great work man. I really love it. Keep them updates coming. So what method of pressure did you use while grafting on spachianus? I never tried pantyhose as means of pressure and I'm not comfortable of using it, but I can't imagine any other way with this species?
mutant Posted February 24, 2014 amazing specimens, a definate green thumb you are awesome mate! loving the simple straw mulch, seems to work, huh?
Stillman Posted February 24, 2014 philocacti I used really large rubber bands was not easy all the grafst were very small button pups forced using bap so I didn't have a great deal of height to make them all "wobbly". Mutant I use sugarcane mulch or lucern to help supress weeds and help reduce evaporation on all my gardens.
Stillman Posted July 8, 2014 Some updates of the garden, most plants are 2.5 year old seedlings. I put the fastest and most interesting looking plants in the ground. You never know I might get some flowers one day. Just going through repotting and cleaning up a bit, some nice and unique off types amongst these. SSo2 x sierra canyon unusual phenotype Nothinks pachanoi J3 open pollinated SS BK peruvianus Psycho0 x spachianus unusual phenotype. Albino Psycho0 x spach unusual pheno. Philocacti Posted July 9, 2014 Wow wow wow Great job man ...... very impressive and inspiring
nitrogen Posted July 9, 2014 (edited) Wow, that's awesome! My favs are the Nothinks pachanoi, J3 OP, and the Psycho0 x spachianus.. Gotta love that SS02 x SS01 F2 hybrid crest also - that thing is gorgeous! Back in the day when Sacred Succulents was (it seemed like) pretty much the only one producing a lot of the interesting hybrids, their SS02 x SS01 cross got a bit of a reputation for being particularly vigorous and fast growing.. That really spiny one in the pic on the top - the second cactus from the left - that looks a lot like an SS02 x SS01 also..
