Jonstn Posted March 22, 2012 Nice mate looks sweet! Sounded nice and (relatively) easy, how long did it take you to get the top looking the way it does?
planthelper Posted March 22, 2012 mate, believe it or not, i used to be a pro cabinetmaker, but i have saved a lot of elboegrease with this construction. i hand planed the top (big) board, and than used an orbit sander and hand sanding. i got pretty good wood working tools, but it still takes a lot of time, as i basicly mill all my wood, myselfe. i was thought, in a technical college, but this piece is, kept more "ozzi raw". cedar wood last's longer, i love the red in it.

Psylo Posted March 23, 2012 nice wood, man. That box is particularly impressive. In your craft woodworking history, have you ever accented your projects with pyrography ?

Zen Peddler Posted March 25, 2012 My advice - quit your day job - there is major money in that. I know a furniture maker that is doing very well.
planthelper Posted July 10, 2012 more of my red cedar work! it's my, home made red cedar, sliding dige, let me tell you she plays well! because of the telescopic action, i can play many different key's, not just basicly one.
Wameron36 Posted July 10, 2012 I'm impressed! That tissue holder is a great idea, really like that one. And the didge is awesome! How did you go about the sliding part, does that work alright also? What sort of finish have you been using? I've got a fewlittle chunks of red cedar that I've made myself a few plugs for my ears with that I've never been able to keep the finish for long. planthelper Posted July 11, 2012 if you want to play didge, whilst playing another instrument, you need a didge stand. this is my 1st proto type, so it sure has flaws, hehehe. all home diy, with recyled materials (wood from the dump, old bicycle inner tube, some screws). joints which are under stress are dealt better this way,, than with screws or any connections which would suffer under stress, but the wedged, mortised and tenon, joint will not fail, hehehe. OPP Posted July 17, 2012 I love the smell of cedar. Its so easy to work with, pity its so soft and dents really easily. Milled up some windows or work 3.6m long and 2m tall. 2 sashs and 8 panes of glass. Looks awesome.
