Fluss Posted February 7, 2012 This is my own toy, so the quality is what it is. Piece of chocolate, the kind of candy u buy/weight, this is straight out of the bag, i haven't been doing anything nasty with it. Sorry ppl but it's the truth. Guess what? a kiwi up close. Old wooden pot, with insects holes in it, termites or something similar. A "fast pizza" from the microwave, (cheese on ham that looks incredibly disgusting) My computer mouse after some extensive use, and this shit is not as big as it looks, that's the creepy stuff, i can't really see it clearly. If someone likes it and think it's cool i can take requests! I warn you if you say anything with skin defects, jesus god it can be repulsive.
Fluss Posted February 7, 2012 (edited) I found more! The first 4 pics is of a disease on a rhubarbs' leaf. at a distance it was just a Bright red spot, but when up close it was a bit different. The very TIP of a Tiny tiny tiny root, from what plant i don't remember. but it's cool that it's almost smoother or shiny where it's growing. This is a rosebud, (a very small one, not bigger then 5mm in diameter) with a fungal infection on the stem. the fungi took over the whole plant later on, but it's still alive. the winter is here and it's -7 Celsius but we have had some crazy weather so it's been producing buds in January (where we normally have -14) The red glands was surprisingly similar to cannabis THC glands, it might be a UV deflection device for the rose as well! niggles Posted February 9, 2012 niggles, can you please show me a photo of your micrscope, or an internet link, please ? And maybe some details on how you attached it to a camera. I'm loving this shit. The macro world is awesome. It sure is awesome.. I spent $60 postage incl on something that looked like this: http://www.ecrater.com.au/p/8680379/200x-usb-13m-digital-video its usb plugs straight into the computer and with the adjustable stand you can shove it up against almost anything in awkward positions and still get stability. Psylo Posted February 12, 2012 So Nigges, are you carting a laptop around with you when you use the scope outside or does it have an internal memory ?
niggles Posted February 12, 2012 This one is just a USB camera, so I attatch it to the laptop. I havent tried using it outside yet, I just collect specimens and take them back to my 'lab' (coffee table). Going to get a usb extension cord so I can set up some outside time lapse sequences
Psylo Posted February 12, 2012 cool. There are a lot of mixed reviews on this type of build, so will be interestng to see if youre still happy with it in month
niggles Posted February 12, 2012 its not the most amazing bit of hardware, it has some flaws and glitches - the take picture button just breaks it and makes it take thousands of pictures at once, so I have to take pictures via the laptop, which is better anyway cos touching the scope makes for vibrations. it doesnt seem to mind me dropping it and whatnot. Looks like it will survive being in the greenhouse so i can make nice timelapse videos. It might have been better to go for higher quality scope - I would have liked twice the zoom capacity and more megapixels are alwys good (this one is 1.3) but I had no idea what I was getting into with buying it so I feel more comfortable having a cheap one I can mess about with and not be too concerned about ruining it as its going to end up in the garden sooner or later. I also got a rather nice telescope with motorized tracking star positioning system. Of course its been cloudy every night since it arrived. Gotta figure out some power issues and get a lens fitting for my dSLR and then I should be able to post some nice cosmic pictures also. (This is much more delicate than the microscope and more fiddly also. Tracking planets manually is very fiddly.)
