Stillman Posted February 6, 2012 was it too much humidity? When I do peres I put the fresh grafts in a sealed airtight clear bucket out of direct light, I find I lose more to no humidity then too much nothing worse than thinking a scion has taken only to look at it a few hours later shrivelled up. I had some that looked like they were getting orange rot but once I was sure the graft had bonded and I took them out of the high humidity and put them under lights it healed up pretty quick. Chef Posted February 6, 2012 i know this is off topic here, but is there a certain time you have to degraft a button beast or can it just grow the size of a basketball? does anyone have any pics of crazy eff off large ones?? chef
Stillman Posted February 8, 2012 chef check out comp from previous years, peres bloats the scion alot so some look like small tennis ball sized jabba the hut LW some good pics in the archives. Eventually the peres will go woody and the scion will have to be de-grafted or re-grafted to permanent stock like trichocereus etc.
Jonstn Posted February 8, 2012 Is it bad if the Peres is woody? Hows everyone looking? Spewing I couldn't join in bloody SA! Not bad watching from the sidelines though Is there gonna be a awesome trophy for the winner like the previous comp?
cactuscarl Posted February 8, 2012 Ok finally have some time to put a picture its not growing as fast as id hoped but still doing alright
2Deep2Handle Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) OMG sorry to jump in guys but after seeing cactus carls's, i feel i may be in for a chance...ill get some pics up.... by memory(i do have exact dates tagged) they were sown 12 dec(prob popped up like 6 days later), I grafted 2 onto peres on the 27th dec, and both are now almost 1 cm..... I First tried to graft a loph pup onto tricho about 1 year ago and failed. Then a penis on Tricho bridgessi named clone Tim about 9 weeks ago, which was my second ever graft and my first ever success. A freaky looking elongated bridgesii mess and then i tried my first ever loph/peres and my 3rd and 4th ever grafts and both worked :D they were sitting on top of a light i made myself which acted as a warm heat matt, and also had a 15w growlush T8 straight fluoro over em(very close almost touching) for like 2 3 weeks as well, and they started to go a little pinkish/red, so i backed it off and now 2 weeks later they are green and growing bonkers... but i can now appreciate what people mean when they say peres tends to mutate the scion, as both and one in particular, is already ballooning out, and looks somewhat like a stereotypical UFO, and has more hair than my 4 year old LW caespitosa(my bad spelling) (will get pics up shortly) EDIT: Maybe not after seeing some previous pics from Got and Guilligan 16/01/2012 Edited February 14, 2012 by 2Deep2Handle
Zaka Posted February 14, 2012 Irie, Looking good guys! I attempted to re-graft the dodgy one & completely failed! But at least it's not gonna bother me again. Respect, Z
2Deep2Handle Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) 15/02/2012 - some serious progress? and is it just me or am i really lucky that almost the first ever graft, and my first time using peres, first time using loph, that 2 from 2 were mighty sucessful? they are like 8 times the size of my seed grown lophs already. All 3 pics were taken tonight, and remeber these wernt sown until mid dec 2011 and grafted on the 27th dec 2011, so 1 and a half months growth....im pretty sure from seeing other people previous posts on peres that mine are doing alright? gilligan Posted March 9, 2012 Grin. Yeah, got, I know. Been slack with these promised pics... And that's not just in this thread (sorry chili!) I've got some nice arios going, and ive already regrafted one of the pere lophs to a trich, forcing the pere loph to repup, 3 or 4 heads on it now... I'm just restocking the Peres now for a next wave of grafting to happen :-) be interesting to compare...
GoOnThen Posted March 12, 2012 Ok here are the biggest of my grafts which I think are the same grafts that I posted in the last update. I love the first one it is a tough little thing you can still see the damage at it base that it sustained from orange rot when it was first grafted Cheers Got
gilligan Posted March 12, 2012 Fuck! Those lophs are on some awesome boost juice GoT! I dunno what mine have done in the last week, find out tonight. My ario is about that size, but the lophs were smaller when I last saw them...
gilligan Posted March 12, 2012 That first one is purty too - nice spiny looking tufting... If she pups down the track, wanna swap something so I can prop one?
cactuscarl Posted March 13, 2012 Nice GOT Shit i thought there would be some nice ones but they are awesome great work. What are you feeding them? My ario is about that size, but the lophs were smaller when I last saw them... You have been home for a few hours so out you go and take some photos damit That first one is purty too - nice spiny looking tufting... If she pups down the track, wanna swap something so I can prop one? No worries mate If she pups you can have the first one I have a few grafts that have really taken off in the last couple of months the biggest two are now 30 mm. Now all I have to do is try and convince them to flower they seem happy with the conditions they are growing in and I have two loph's on their own roots on the same shelf that have been flowering Shit i thought there would be some nice ones but they are awesome great work. What are you feeding them? Im to worried about burning my only graft to fertilize it Thanks carl I am wrapped with the growth they are putting on now They now get half strength seasol and around quarter to half strength miracle grow ferts on alternative weeks ( if i remember) and plenty of water. The daytime temps on the shelf are between 30 - 45 c and they are now under a pair of 4 foot fluros with one daylight and a Nec Biolux HG. They were under cool whites but they didnt seem to be going that well I still think cool white fluros are good for seedlings and pere's. That said I don't put my new grafts straight under daylights I put them under cool whites for a few weeks and then move them up. I also have a number of grafts that are growing very slow. They are in the same conditions but really stunted so I might try and re graft some of them in the next few weeks Cheers Got Edited March 13, 2012 by GoOnThen
gilligan Posted March 13, 2012 (edited) OK well... I've got some pics... my arios trich that was with some arios, lucky dip My loph. I've regrafted the top, so my original is now two These are my biggest at the moment. Edited March 13, 2012 by gilligan
GoOnThen Posted March 14, 2012 Your arios are looking really good I think they would be a fair bit bigger than mine. That loph should start pumping now it is on pach stock. It will be interesting to see how every ones grafts are going in another month or two. I am really starting to wonder If any of us will get flowers before a year is up Cheers Got
