Teotzlcoatl Posted September 27, 2011 (edited) ~~~Perfect Pain-Killer from Plants~~~ Argemone mexicana ~ "Prickly Poppy" - Latex: Commiphora myrrha ~ "Myrrh" - Resin: large chunks, wash them and allow them to dry before use. Corydalis yanhusuo ~ "Yan Hu Suo" - Root: Smash, chop and macerate the roots. Datura spp. ~ "Datura" - Seed: crush, use few. Glaucium flavum ~ "Yellow Hornpoppy" - ????part used? petals? Glycyrrhiza spp. ~ "Licorice" - Root:? Lactuca virosa ~ "Opium Lettuce" - Latex & Flower Buds: harvest as much latex as possible, collect juicy flower buds. Mitragyna speciosa ~ "Kratom" - Leaf: high quaility whole Bail leaf Papaver somniferum ~ "Opium Poppy"- Latex & Pods: Picralima nitida ~ "Akuamma Seed” - Seed:? Psychotria colorata ~ "???" - Leaf??? berry? Salix alba ~ "White Willow" - Bark: Salvia miltiorrhiza ~ "Dan Shen" - Root: Smash, chop and macerate the roots. >All ingredients are chopped, ground and macerated until fine and are then placed in pure grain alcohol for months or even years. Once properly steeped some of the alcohol is evaporated off until the product is the consistancy of a thick syrup, making sure there is plenty of alcohol left to preserve the mixture. It is then bottled and stored in a cool, dark, dry place. Can anybody think of any other plants to add to my mix to make it stronger? Cannabis? haha, no but seriously, anybody? Alice Posted September 27, 2011 What was that Aussie Opiod Tree??? Do y'all remember what I'm talking about? Barringtonia acutangula http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3249 That thread was a magnificent example of brainstorming in action. Teotzlcoatl Posted September 29, 2011 (edited) Can anybody think of any other plants to add to my mix to make it stronger? Cannabis? haha, no but seriously, anybody? Would Camphor help? I know they add Camphor to a tincture of opium right? Edited September 29, 2011 by Teotzlcoatl
poisonshroom Posted October 3, 2011 Never worked with the Psychotria and I dont think it would have a common name (doesnt seem very common). The Barringtonia is a tropical freshwater mangrove with hanging red flowers - Iv never seen it in the wild (but it should grow around my area or further north), but there is a specimen growing out the front of like a community art/swimming/recreational area in my town. Iv seen it flower but never any seeds. Iv never seen it for sale anywhere though, so id say good luck getting one. The camphor in paregoric is presumably to soothe the throat (its a topical anesthetic) and probably also to stop people from drinking too much.
Teotzlcoatl Posted October 3, 2011 (edited) Damn I really want one of those plants... The Camphor doesn't make the opium more effective or stronger? Edited October 3, 2011 by Teotzlcoatl
H.E. Pennypacker Posted October 3, 2011 Jeez, lol. There's loads more but thinking of them is kinda hard, Eschscholzia californica (California poppy) springs to mind. The other I can think of this instant is Ugni molinae (chilean guave or tazziberry), coincidentally stumbled upon this article yesterday: Analgesic activity of Ugni molinae (murtilla) in mice models of acute pain.Ugni molinae extracts produce antinociception in chemical and thermal pain models through a mechanism partially linked to either lipooxygenase and/or cyclooxygenase via the arachidonic acid cascade and/or opioid receptors http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17403589 Thought that was kinda neat, as I've never seen that mentioned before. Was simply interested in the berries really, but this tidbit makes it even more interesting to start growing them.

Teotzlcoatl Posted October 4, 2011 I'm looking for strong analgesics or ones that work on opiod receptors. How strong is that one?
Alice Posted October 4, 2011 How hard is Barringtonia acutangula to get? Is it endangered? Does anybody grow it? I got a plant from Herbalistics, it's not currently listed but you could ask him. Lots of places sell seeds, just google it.
Teotzlcoatl Posted October 5, 2011 Really? So it's not very hard to get then? Haha, well other people said it was...

apothecary Posted October 6, 2011 I was sort of curious what Duke had to say about this question so I went to http://www.ars-grin.gov/duke/activity.html (which allows a search of the Duke DB on activity of compounds in plants) and typed in "analgesic" for a search. Interesting response was returned. For anyone interested I recommend you try it out!
amanito Posted December 16, 2011 Hey guys, I'd like to discover some new herbs to help me with my pain. Cannabis works perfectly, the only problem is that I can't function on cannabis. I've tried kratom several times, although it's nice, it doesn't really help. It needs to be pretty strong. I like kava kava, 2 gr of an 84% extract, it helps, stronger than kratom, .. but it's quite expensive to take that every night. Has anyone tried corydalis? I'm curious .. Although ... it's said to be an opiod-alike. Most opiates/opiods don't work ... opium I find to be very soft, I only had succes with pharm grade opium, other opiates even as strong as morphine or methadone don't do much. I've always wondered why that is? What about boswellia serratie (frankincense) and salvia miltiorrhiza, I'd like to hear some experiences. There's also this linden tree which has benzodiazepine alike effects, I ordere some extract from mjb together with some skullcap and yellow horned poppy full extract. It's all pretty expensive if you ask me ...
2Deep2Handle Posted December 17, 2011 amanito...avoid that red wine whilst on kava kava, as it has been proven to be bad for your kidneys anyway, and mix some alcohol with it and your just asking for cirrhosis!
