tripsis Posted December 17, 2011 Hope your plants pull through Hillbilly! Mine are still doing well, have a few fruits forming. The rain seems to have slowed them, but they're otherwise healthy, though a few of the fruits look like they might drop off the stalks.
Jonstn Posted December 20, 2011 How's everyone going? Hope yours pulled through hillbilly! Heres my update: Whole bad boy Males Fem Also fem They went a tad yellow for a bit but I think it was due to me using a touch to much foliage spray Hope everyone's is cranking! Jonstn Posted January 1, 2012 Past few days and coming days are mid-high 30's, even though its only getting about 6 hours direct sunlight it has copped a fair bit of damage, thinking of cutting one of the vines completely off cos its seared but thatll only leave me with one main vine :s and females still aren't opening, read that it could be to much nitrogen in the soil but I don't know I'll just wait it out see what happens, doesn't look like many people are still in the comp lol
Distracted Posted January 2, 2012 Sweet, my squash's odds are getting better by the day the sqush's/butternut pumpkins at my place are getting fucking pounded by this dry heat
Jonstn Posted January 2, 2012 Gotta love SA's heat!!!!!! Think I'm gonna rig up some shade cloth for it.
Distracted Posted January 2, 2012 woot the temp probably just halved in the last hour, gave them some much needed water
Jonstn Posted January 2, 2012 Yeah I'm gonna go water it in a min, just put up a fence around it because I keep catching the dogs in there, one of them quite likes sitting on the plant and then taking a huge dump : s Got a fem flower that looks like it may open up soon, if not I might just cut the flower open and pollinate it, probably not the best thing to do because it might not be properly developed but I'm quickly losing male flowers! Tomorrow is meant to be 37 woop lol farkn hating this heat, and the wind today was brutal!!

sapito Posted January 4, 2012 Have you guys grown pumpkins before? Seems you are all freaking out too much about your babies. None of those pics seem like anything serious. Ive never grown that big variety of pumpkin but the ones ive grown have all been hardy muthas. Ive had plants stripped of their leaves by those lady beetle looking bugs and it didnt seem to phase the plant. Positive thoughts and big breaths

PsillyBean Posted January 6, 2012 Looking good psillybean! May I ask ya's what ferts you used for flowering? Mines looking pretty sick ATM one of the main vines are rooted from all the heat thinking of just cutting it off. Got some more seeds still thinking of getting them cranking lol hey Jonstn, spewin about your plants, hope they come good. the seeds got soaked in seasol and thrive for about an hour before planting into a mongrel of soils from around the yard. I did put a decent amount of bloodnbone in the mix and from memory a little chicken manure. after that just more seasol and thrive. dont know if any of that helped flowering though. cheers
