Moses Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) i have a scopXjuuls giant seedling(2cm) that has/is going spiral so far just wondering if anyone else has one to compare? ferret Posted December 24, 2010 im interested in this too- I have a couple of Knize peruvianus seedlings, one of which is pretty regular looking and the other has an anticlockwise spiraling rib formation. about 2-3cm tall and the rows of areoles end up about 90degrees around from where they started. tripsis Posted December 24, 2010 I've noticed a fair few seedlings of that age have a spiral to them, from memory mostly T. peruvianus from Hamilton's, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it in other species too. Not sure if the trait persists though.

kadakuda Posted December 30, 2010 have hjad some trichs do that when young, but didnt last. also have some stenocereus and echinocereus that are doing it better now and seem to stick with it. There are a few species that have some wild consistent spiral action. really cool mutation.
shortly Posted December 31, 2010 I have a couple of Cereus forbesii seedlings and a harringtons black spined that spiraled nicely until their third year,2009, then they all put on a spurt of growth & started to grow dead straight.
