Another id

Question

I have been searching id threads for a good couple of hours looking for anything similar but still have not had much luck so i thought i would ask for another id

My guess would be some sort of Peruvian maybe ? but im usually wrong when it comes to ID's

I picked this one up because i just liked the look of this little fella very symmetrical & the Grey lines & red tinge to the spines set it off nicely so i bought it

Thanks in advance

Stenocereus griseus ?

Probably Stenocereus griseus, but maybe S. victoriensis.

Yeah i have quite a few ornamental cacti in my collection & a couple of scop's i picked up at the local nursery, as well as a couple of bridgsii cuttings about 40 young lophs & a load of assorted Trich seeds that are very slow to germinate ?

so with luck ill have a few more to plant out next growing season & maybe a few for trade with other forum members

So Pachycereus was no where close....

Are y'all sure it's Stenocereus?

From images it seems closest to S. griseus as its only young & im a amateur cacti collector i can only go from images & could not find a S victoriensis image that looked similar

thanks for looking M S Smith i had a Google image search but i could not find any S victoriensis images that looked like a match

I settled for S. griseus because of this image

s_griseus_c_600.jpg

Thanks for the help & reply's everyone i appreciate all the help & info i hope i can repay you all someway in the future,

i have learned alot in the short time i have been lurking around the forum (even if im still useless at Id's)

Good call it has shorter spines much like mine so this may be a positive id

My cactus has the cigar zeppelin shape because it was in a very small pot with glued pebbles on top restricting its growth at the base, it seems very healthy even under the sad conditions it had to grow

my reasoning to id as many of my plants as possible is for future reference & that way i can plant them in their species grouping & that may assist natural pollination & help fruiting once they mature ?
