0 Teotzlcoatl Posted February 16, 2009 I'd say Echinopsis or Trichocereus species.
0 Moses Posted February 16, 2009 my guesses are either trichocereus spachianus or borzicactus samaipata nus google the borzicactus for pix and check out the spachianus crest at cactus-art.biz
0 Undergrounder Posted February 16, 2009 thanks! It does look like that Borzicactus doesn't it... i'm also digging Echinopsis or Trich... that spachianus crest is pretty similar too. I guess we'll know for sure when it flowers. Is it possible to ID from the aereoles alone?
0 kadakuda Posted February 17, 2009 trichocereus is echinopsis now
0 Undergrounder Posted February 17, 2009 Well there are 'good' echinopsis and there are 'colourful but mmm not very interesting' echinopsis if you get my meaning, i'm hoping for the 'good' kind, formerly known as Trichocereus. And since Trichocereus is already a handy word for describing this particular kind of columnar 'good' echinopsis, i'll keep using it.
0 kadakuda Posted February 17, 2009 ya i hear ya....but there are lots of non active trichs as well....i dont think this plant is anything that is active

0 sharxx101 Posted February 18, 2009 (edited) They will always be Trichocereus to me it sounds better then echonopenis Edited February 18, 2009 by sharxx101
0 kadakuda Posted February 19, 2009 looks quite different to my huasca crest....but looking at how many species were merged into it. there must be much variation!
