only guessing but i saw a Mammillaria microhelia crested little stars cactus, it just looked similar but more spikes it was a more mature plant

I'd say Echinopsis or Trichocereus species.

my guesses are either trichocereus spachianus or borzicactus samaipata nus

google the borzicactus for pix

and check out the spachianus crest at cactus-art.biz

It does look like that Borzicactus doesn't it... i'm also digging Echinopsis or Trich... that spachianus crest is pretty similar too.

I guess we'll know for sure when it flowers. Is it possible to ID from the aereoles alone?

Well there are 'good' echinopsis and there are 'colourful but mmm not very interesting' echinopsis if you get my meaning, i'm hoping for the 'good' kind, formerly known as Trichocereus. And since Trichocereus is already a handy word for describing this particular kind of columnar 'good' echinopsis, i'll keep using it.

ya i hear ya....but there are lots of non active trichs as well....i dont think this plant is anything that is active

They will always be Trichocereus to me :wub: it sounds better then echonopenis

looks quite different to my huasca crest....but looking at how many species were merged into it. there must be much variation!
