Well after another short walk, came across lots more baby subs, none picked though, give them a chance to get big and fat!

So no new interesting sub photos, i did however see these along my journy...

This sucker had a diameter of about 15cm!

I am pretty interested to know what these little fuzz bag guys are.

Any other tassie people been hunting? how is it going for you?

I recently found some of these guys, they are Lycoperdon species, aka common puff-balls.

Pics# 4 & 14 are some unknown fungi that popped up in the pots of my pereskiopsis.

How can I resize my pics and post in full size like Re[x]'s pics?

Still getting the hang of this

Thanks for the ID

some awesome photos there, the 4th one from the end looks awesome.

I resize my photos in photoshop before i stick them up.

Went back up to a patch yesterday to take some photos of the babies growing after a good over night rain, and the whole patch was gone.. even the smallest 1cm high mushrooms had been picked :( god damn it

Hi everyone,

Yep well it looks like things are definitely hotting up here in tas. I went for a walk today and found these:

post-2028-1178874322_thumb.jpg

Its still really dry where i was today, so i think a little while longer before things get really exciting.

I even found a Subaeruginosa. This is the first for the year, and growing out of some very moist leaf matter, lots of very nice mycellium. Also a pic of where i found it for the benefit of those interested in general habitat:

post-2028-1178874409_thumb.jpg post-2028-1178874475_thumb.jpg

And here is a group of lookalikes - you'd swear they were hey by looking at the caps, but the stems are a giveaway:

post-2028-1178874515_thumb.jpg post-2028-1178874546_thumb.jpg

And one more pic:

post-2028-1178874669_thumb.jpg

Hey Re[x], thats a real pain int he bum when that happens. some people just have no respect, and no idea of the disfavour they are doing to themselves. So all you newbies don't pick the little ones hey, let em grow so they drop spores.

Anyway,

Cheers, Obtuse

Thats a nice specimen rex!

It Seems things are still goin well up this way,

Altho some of the patches that started to fruit early are slowing down a bit!

Is there anyone else here on the NW Coast?

Would be good to have our own Tassie Get together!

Hi,

I'm new to the forum (although did sign up and lurk for a little while late last year). I live in southern Tassie and have just come across this thread.

I'm new to mycology and was wondering if the season is still ripe down here or am I too late to go hunting this year?

Thanks,

thought.

Hi Thought,

I reckon you'd have to be pretty lucky to find any now.

I have observed over the years that its fairly well over by late June mid July.

But saying that, the season was late and the weather has been fairly pleasant lately so you never know they might have hung in for a bit longer this year.

From what i have seen they have been fairly happy, and growing in places i wouldn't normally expect to see them.

Wouldn't hurt to keep your eyes open next time you go bushwalking, you never know.

What do the other taswegians think???

Cheers, Obtuse

Hi Obtuse,

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll get out anyway and start trying to identify any fungi that are around so that I get a bit of experience for next year.

Thanks,

thought.
