    Freemasonry

i became briefly interested in the craft a few years ago because i thought it might be an underground current of brotherly love.. and some of the initiations and legends (hiram etc.) were evocative. Of course you can find out about all the degrees of all masonic rites on the internet in 5 minutes these days. anyway to cut my story short i was turned off by the fact that it was less a brotherhood of love or a mysterious container of prieure de sion style secrets than it was a frat house for 80 year olds.

    Leonotis Nepetaefolia

Alice is right, they can be a real weed! They are much faster growing then leonorus, though (as i've said before ) they're certainly not annuals in Sydney. My oldest one was grown from seed in 2002 and has a pretty thick base now, almost woody, or corky. New stems just sprout each spring. My 2 and 3 year olds are all flowering heavily at the moment, as Alice and other forum members can attest ;) ... they are very opportunistic (the plants, not the forum members ;) ). the seeds like to sprout in hot cracks of concrete and extremely shallow soil/dirt, after periods of complete neglect, rather than responding to attentive care as a deliberately sown species.

    BENZITO...

if the fact that he didnt see this post and/or didnt reply pisses you off, why not just 'let it slide'? what's the point of this post? why post this paragraph? did darcy deliberately not post on this thread earlier out of malice? you think darcy is the kind of man who'd enjoy watching people suffer in ignorance? be grateful that your forum has attracted so many knowledgeable, loving and interesting contributors. i dont know much, but i think that constant arguing and high-horsing is off-putting and breeds resentment. and now that i have stated my resentful argument, i hereby sign off for the night ;) bon voyage and drink wine and eat cheese, my friends. wine and cheese.
  6. I am relocating and need to get rid of a whole bunch of ethno plants, including: - mandrakes (many) - cebil/yopo (many, 2 varieties) - ayahuasca vines (many) - kava (few) - vanilla (few) - psychotria (few) - sassafras albidum (many) - belladonna (many) - sceletium (many) - sausage trees (many) - baobabs (many, big ones too) - coffee (too many) - wormwood (too many) - valerian (few) - patchouli (few) - hoodia seedlings (many) - san pedros (few) - red khat (too many) - narrow khat (many) - acacia maidenii (few) - mimosa species (many) - ephedra species (few) - HBWR (many, and seeds) and many more i am not mail-sending any of these.. they are all sales in person only. if you need them sent, then maybe ask a forum friend to collect them for you and send for you. i am in northern sydney - around hornsby. please do not PM me... just email me directly - [email protected] prices are reasonable - equal to or less than any current offerings on ethno stores at the moment. we will work it out on the day. again please no PM's, just direct emails ([email protected]), i wont reply to PMs, sorry. we can work out a time to meet. No trades, sorry - cash only.

    2012

come to think of it, if you think about the plot/vibe of 2001 (the movie), it's about (in a sense) the arrival at a technological singularity too. The only thing was that Kubrick was working off the Gregorian calendar rather than the Mayan one ;)

    2012

personally i dont think complexity/technology is accelerating at anywhere near the rate predicted when the electronic and engineering revolution began. back in 1968, 2 very bright blokes (kubrick and clarke) thought it would be realistic to anticipate 1) a manned mission to Jupiter 2) a permanent moon base 3) an intelligent machine in 2001. i dont think we'll go to Jupiter this century; i dont think well see an intelligent machine like HAL at all. if by technology you have in mind gadgets and miscellanea, then yes, due to the population (not technology) explosion, there's a heap of cheap crap you can buy at the local walmart, and heaps of cheap labour to manufacture that crap. if you mean mobile phones and the internet, then, well, whatever floats your boat. Sounds to me like we're justa bit more radiation-bathed in 2006 than we were in 1984.

    Rimbaud's Solstice Psychosis

lol, i know yuo;'re not serious ;) But in case anyone got fooled, unfortunately my choice of forum alias is much more bondesque and intriguing than i ever will be one of the perils of forums, i've said it before... you build up an image by what you choose to contribute, or by the mistakes you make in writing.... but the image is a lie.. anyway to the point... yeah there will be probably be stuff left over (we'll see) i'll shoot you a mail in a few weeks.

    If God was Insane:

lol ;) good one. for sake of argument i did a quick google the other day, looking for religions that think that God is a human or similar animal (you know like the middle eastern religions, and many other non-middle-eastern beliefs, some with multiple humans), and which happen to believe in heaven and hell (narrowing it down since many religions dont have this idea) but which do not happen to believe that this world is dualistic & imperfect (as in some gnostic christian beliefs) and do not believe it is a sort of temporary purgatory either (paying for sins of the past, even some eastern religions have this element) and do not believe it is eternal paradise or heaven but instead believe that we are in eternal hell right now, from which escape is impossible. i couldn't find any religions which held this view. Would be a useless religion in terms of escaping; but its allure would be knowing the truth despite no possibility of release. lots of ppl say they are only interested in Truth.

    happy birthday!

Hi Guys, sorry i've been lax with the missives Thanks for the thread, i swear i don't feel a day over 94... i attribute my longevity to my zest for life, healthy living & ultra-conservative beliefs.
  21. (assayers must be bio, not techno) i've got loads and loads of cowslip plus a flowering method, so i am preparing for a proper release of cowslip wine or extract at some near stage. i have 3 small-ish plastic bottles of fresh cowslip flower extract into vodka. Currently the wonderful Bacchant (who lives up to his name) and the tiresome Darcy (who also lives up to his name, in the local SE Qld gay clubs.. just ask Molly) have "bioassayed" this stuff, and i have too... the main concern i have is working out how to make the extract taste good! It smells very fruity, and old cowslip recipes mention that the wine sometimes has orange or lemon flavour. That seems right to me, given how fruity the flowers smell. Darcy has suggested mixing with white wine; I tried mixing with chilled water and a twist of lemon. Since i don't drink much alcohol, i can't say i enjoyed it. It didn't taste bad, but it was no pan-galactic gargle blaster. But perhaps a regular drinker would tolerate or even enjoy the flavour. What i am primarily after are suggestions to make the exrtact palatable. so please PM me if you're willing to assay this stuff. it is very hygenically made, due to my OCD. the main feedback i would ask for are ideas about flavoring the extract. I only have 3 bottle thingies though. If i get more than 3 volunteers, i will make up some more in the next few weeks.

    ARTSY FARTSY

this is "my end of the stick" after a clever trade with Wandjina today ;) i still think i came off best, and that is less a statement of my brilliant capitalist mind than a big ol' compliment to her delicate & striking art. would recommend everyone see one of these in real life - the colors are not conveyed in scans (as i think she has mentioned before) and the level of detail is also an important factor in their worth...

What goes down must come up

i was wondering if there are psychoactives whose desirable effects occur as part of the "hangover" rather than the other way round? if what goes up must come down, then wouldn't what goes down must come up? maybe it's too early in the morning but i can't think of any glaring examples, but i bet there are common medications which have this effect, at least physiologically (no pain no gain) so why not mentally? for example is there an anti-cocaine or an anti-alcohol? i spose the human inclination to try things out would be reluctant to extend to these sorts of things, for obvious reasons (oh man! i feel AWFUL! great! can't wait to see what i feel like in 18 hours!) i suppose to a certain extent such an effect is known to occur with some psychedelics, with some people. but what about more obvious examples, eg. with stimulants and relaxants? could there be an anti-alcohol, for instance, which makes you feel sober and rotten for 12 hours, and then makes you feel drunk for a few hours after that?
