I mate of mine has a beautiful cacti that was a gift from an old friend years ago, and wants to know what it is. Story goes that she was told it was originally grown for a purpose by a house mate, and he left it behind when he went overseas. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, P

Hi guys, I'm looking for a large pressure cooker, ~21L, to use for mycology. Im currently a bit limited on funds, so can not afford a brand new one, so if anyone had one lying around not being used and is thinking of getting rid of it, maybe we could strike up a deal? Located in Melbourne

Alicia anisopetala working thread and seed giveaway
Paradoxical replied to rahli's topic in Ethnobotany
Hey Thought I'd share my growing experiences with Alicia anisopetala. Last year I brought little established plant from an online vendor. I had it on my window sill over winter last year and everything was going great, until near the end of winter it dropped it leaves and died. I was a little gutted to be honest because I was really trying hard to protect it from the cold (Melbourne), hence having it inside over winter. I could not bring my self to throw it away, so I left it on the window sill for a couple of months. Eventually I did a big clean of my room and the dead plant had to go, but I still did not want to throw it in the bin, so I just put it outside under an orange tree where I normally out my old pots. About a month ago I went to move the pots and noticed that there was something sprouting out of that pot. Initially I thought that it was just weed, until I went to put it out and realised that it was connected to the dead A anisopetala plant. On further inspection I realised that it has seemingly revived itself and thrown up a new shoot. That was about a month ago, and the plant looks like its doing really well. So, it appears that this plant is capable of throwing suckers up, even after about a year of having no leaves!! Remarkable! On that note, don't discard any 'dead' plants you have, and you might be as lucky as me -

A. courtii SAB Fundraiser auction
Paradoxical replied to theuserformallyknownasd00d's topic in Seed & Plant Sales
I'll bump it up to $55 for this good cause. -
I have recently received a few A. courtii seeds and I want to maximise the germination rates (as i don't have many). I was going to use the boiling water method (pour boiling water over the seeds in a mug, and let sit overnight before planting) that appears to be applied to numerous Acacias species. But I was wondering if anyone that has had success on germinating courtii, had any tips that were directly relevant to this species that they would be willing to share? i.e smoke water treatment (I have a pack of smoke treatment available if need be). Cheers in advance for the advice. P

I am looking to expand my garden to include a herbal tea section. I am mainly looking for cuttings or small plants that I can just pop into the garden, but if plants are not an option then i'm am happy to try germinating seeds. So far I have mint, A couple of plants that I am interested are: Griffonia simplicifolia Tulsi (Holy basil) - Ocimum tenuflorum german chamomile mexican tarragon st johns wort Kanna But I am open to anything really - so your suggestions and offers will be appreciated. I don't have too much cash to spare at the moment so anything super expensive might be out of limits, and I am happy to trade any seeds that I have, or cover postage etc. Thanks in advance
