    Breaking news...tonite

Has anyone heard anything about Julia Gillard leading a successfull challenge on the leadership of the ALP ? Did she garner support from other party members herself ? Or was she just installed ? Whenever there is a leadership challenge or coup we normally hear of negotiations, deals and all sorts of skullduggery before the fact, but this time nothing. As soon as the screen door slammed shut after K Rudd left, the mining moguls were celebrating his removal and even making threats that they will hold the country to ransom if the tax is not removed. As seen on lateline business - tonight 24 june. Wake up and smell the stench Australia. Democracy does not exist, it is a figment of a feeble manipulated mind. We live in a dictatorship - dictated by big business. But all that debt can only be good for us in the long run, that's why we have credit cards. Let's have it now, fuck tomorrow it may never come.

Both the Labour and Liberal parties have slushfunds funded by American interests through the CIA. The Greens are the only party to openly declare that they don't receive funding from overseas interests. This "two party preferred" cliche that gets bandied around come election time is another device to downplay the importance of any competitors. They are the two parties preffered by the world bankers who run this planet. I'd have money on Costello making a comeback, no-one is going to vote for an budgie smuggler wearing ex priest who openly admits he lies sometimes.

It seems like the shadow masters have been at it again. I didn't vote for Gillard or Keneally for that matter. This is the actions of the powerbrokers behind the scenes that run everything. All this talk of opinion polls recently has just been a device to shape our psyche so they can pull this crap and have it accepted. All opinion polls are anyway are a tool to twist feeble minds. Why is K Rudds popularity so low anyway, all he did was claim some of Australias' wealth back from foriegn moguls and now apparently no-one likes him, what a crock of shit. I think the tax was the best decision made by any government in the last 50 years, after all it is our coal/iron etc why should Australia not benefit from it ? If there are minerals in the ground someone will still want them, all this bullshit about the tax stopping investment is just that bullshit. The Chinese have just signed some massive contracts. It's there and they still want it, they'll just pass on there extra costs to the customers buying it. It's the same pack of pricks that ousted Whitlam, just their methods have become more subtle these days. Whitlam wanted to pay off the countries debts and they arseholed him, here we go again.

    Syrian Rue Problems

Is that black mould only growing on the older dead leaves ? If so that is normal, but you should remove any dead leaves so the mould doesn't have an easy target. I'd hit it with a bordeaux solution and put it outside.

    Got my Salvia plant!

It looks like the courier played soccer with that poor thing. Once a leaf is damaged to that extent it's not going to "stick back on". Keeping it there would be asking for trouble from fungal and bacterial organisms. Like Psili said, why have you got that needle poking out of it? I understand you tried to rescue that leaf, but there is no reson for the needle. You may be worlds first salvia accupuncturist. Oh yeah Psili I believe a "tip" in technichal terms is referred to as an "Apical Miristem" and the small leaves surrounding it are called Rudimentary leaves. But everyone just calls them tips, at least I do anyway. Like Psili said the tips look fine so you are in with a good chance of saving that thing. Good luck !

Qld cops to issue fines for swearing in public

Fucken pricks ! You've got to admit that some people take it too far though. It's one thing to swear when you are trying emphasise a point, sometimes the best way to make a point is to swear ie "Go away" doesn't have anywhere near as much clout as "Fuck off". If your at the pub or with friends who cares, but if your waiting at a bus stop surrounded by 70 year old grandma's it's not really appropriate. All that said it is another power with the potential to be abused. One place I worked with an older man was an ex cop, he'd left the police force over the way infringements were dealt with. Speeding fines were his pet hate, apparently breaking the speed limit was OK as long as it was not deemed to be dangerous and coming from a small town he didn't like to book people for trivial offences, but his superiors started making him fine everyone for all infringements no matter how trivial. It could be another step towards a police state.

    bronze casting / EGA fundraising

What about a cauducus entwined with caapi vines and salvia leaves at the top instead of wings. Just kidding that would be a nightmare in bronze, it would look good though. It could work in something softer and more forgiving like pewter.

    Salvia, the right setup?

Personally I wouldn't use that pot for a newly rooted cutting especially a salvia That's what's referred to as squat pot and it has very poor drainage as well. Squat pots have a high water holding capacity and if you get your potting mix wrong the plant will have wet feet and become succeptable to fungal diseases. The reason squat pots hold so much water can be demonstrated with a sponge, if you get a sponge like you'd use to wash a car and dip it in a bucket and then take it and lay it on its side until the excess water drains off and then wring it out into a jug and note how much water it held. Then with the same sponge dip it in the bucket, take it out and stand it up to drain, when you wring it out it will hold a lot less water than the same sponge laying down. Plants in squat pots don't get the same aeration as plants in tubestock or conventional pots. I'd plant it in a smaller conventional pot until it is hardened off & then transplant it to a shady spot in the garden if I was going away for that long, either that or have it hooked up to a reservoir with a smart valve in a hydroponic setup. As for the morning glory I'd say it's fucked.

    Humidity Addict

You are correct about the roots not being able to supply enough moisture to the plant at first anyway, but it's also about the water efficiency of the rest of the plant as well ie xylem & leaf tissue. When the plant adapts to it's new environment the functions of the plant adapt accordingly, new cells grow to suit the environment they're in and older cells adapt too. as an example a plant grown in high humidity will generaly have large lush foliage where a cutting grown from the same plant adapted to low humidity will generally have smaller less dense foliage. The rooting hormone may help in the early stages, but I'd only really use it for striking roots. Probably better to harden the plant off gradually ie if it is in a humidity chamber you could gradually open the lid or vents over a few weeks, or if it is in a pot with a plastic bottle over it you could make few holes in the bottle and after a few days cut the end off the bottle so it is just a tube with an open end and a few weeks later remove it altogether. Just don't go straight from high humidity to a dry environment in one go, wean it off slowly.

    Suicide

Suicide is a very contentious topic. When you're in that frame of mind it's hard to see a way out. A lot of people live to 100 hundred and wonder where the time went, we're not here for long in the grand scheme of things. Some people say that if you commit suicide you have to come back and re-live your life until you learn your lifes' lesson so your spirit can evolve. Others say if you commit suicide your spirit is damned, which sounds a lot worse than 1 crappy period in your life to me. I don't know if that's true or not but it kept me alive wondering. Wouldn't it be better to ride it out to see what's around the corner ? I've had a broken back and came close myself and I've also had a few near death experiences. I wouldn't be dead for quids.
