xShiva.spacetechnology
Hey happy people,As we know, the season has just started and things are starting to get interesting. sorry i've got no pics to start us off, but i just thought it would be a good idea to start a Far North NSW and South East QLD based thread (cause we gotta beat the melbourne guys ) so all local myco enthusiasts/resesearcher know what they look like when they start popping up! Also to document what we have in the area and any interesting finds. so lets get this thing rolling. get your cameras and go forth! ps. i heard from a reliable source thatthey have been a few in the past week, so ill be out next time the weather is just right Edited November 5, 2007 by xshivaspacetechnologyx

Hyphal
I really have to get a camera. I really have to get a camera. I really have to get a camera. I really have to get a camera. Agreed..... Im pretty damn keen to see these pics, especially the gyms. You should print and dry some gym specimens until you get them identified. Mycot
So far I've only found one specimen of the gym, will be checking for more fruiting soon.Took a spore print although it came out lightly(on paper, there's got to be a better way), also kept the dried specimen(one should always do this) so should be able to start a culture from gill fragments which I have found to be just as effective as working with spores. I'll see what I can do about the pics.
The Dude
Does that have this kind of blueing effect? or is it possibly an active? That instant blueing looks nuts!I hope to make it up the coast this season to see what it's all about - how long does season last?
Monk
Wow, duder! I found a mushroom that looked just like that Gyroporus cyanescens when I was up in the pacific northwest (US) a few months ago. I was wondering what the hell it was (very little myco knowledge) with such a strong blueing reaction. Thanks. Strange way to find the answer to my query though Sorry for the hijack, his dudeness got me all excited Edited November 7, 2007 by FM. Hyphal
*phew*Finally, I saw a new post before I opened this thread, and if it was going to be another claim of a spectacular find without any pics I think I would have imploded...Amazing pics! Crazy that all 3 active species were growing from the SAME pat! Madness....How do you rate the Pan subb experience??
