is this sick

Recommended Posts

I got this recently rooted tip cutting that was a little neglected and maybe got a bit too much rain over summer.

I have just repotted it in a nice indoors spot and it has something going on that has me a wee bit perplexed.

I am fairly new to this obsession and any advice would be appreciated.

is it the herpes? :blush::blush::blush::blush::blush:

Its been upright all summer :scratchhead: , do you know why it would sprout roots so high? did I maybe damage the roots at the base replanting?

edit: mmmmmkay, moisture pipe??? replant on the side of a hill?? leave it alone??find an easier hobby?

nothing to get your knickers in a twist about mate :P

as for finding an easier hobbie... once you're settled in i don't think you could find one!

these aerial roots present no problem whatsoever. i would just make sure you are giving it enough water.

you said it maybe had too much water over summer, but these roots state that this is probably not the case, in fact the cactus looks like its quite sucked in.

the cactus is throwing roots becuase it is seeking moisture from wherever it can get it.

they don't present any danger to your plant, you can break them off if they annoy you.

I feel like I'm overwatering my cactus, and yet it's throwing roots?

Maybe my soil is too firm/dense. I've had a suspicion about that for a while...

Might need to go look up how to repot a cactus.
