alc & pot are some of the best drugs there is!

they are only mildly addictive, and don't give you much tolerance either, but can help you, against an array of conditions.

I can stop both of them at will, but I doubt I could stop a painkiller or valium addiction, just the same.

if you use valium for 14 days straight you are hooked, if you smoke pot and enjoy alc for the same period, you can stop with ease, or maybe you even enjoy being off the gear.

Wow how did I miss this thread... Or better yet, why is it synchronistically popping up now... 5 years ago, I would have called anybody who said a few beers a night is bad, a "poof". Living out bush with the pub as your everything will do that to a bloke..

Now I'm here, after 4-8 beers a night, for 5 years solid, and I can say, I was the poof. Not to mention at least a gram of green a night. But to be realistical its always been 2-3gs, why do you have to lie dude...

Anyways, for 8 days now I haven't done a piss that hasn't been red or close to maroon and a shit that's been solid (or even custard consistency). A prelim blood/piss test had me called back to the docs this morning and I am booked into the specialist in Sydney first thing Tuesday morning. I feel like I am dead, inside and out, no energy, no life, no way to break the cycle. To make things worse, I need to go for chest scans once we have my liver sorted (or stable to the point I've worn it down too).

There is no history of alcoholism in my family, nor is there a history of bad chests. The doctor is certain the damage and "echo" in my chest are from my lifestyle. this can be confirmed from when I had a severe over active thyroid and the testing my body and organs got on a regular basis (3 yrs before the alcoholism kicked in).

I have been searching the rabbit holes for the last 6mths. But rabbit holes aren't where I need to be, that's just where I got the download, fuck knows where we need to be.

So here's a toast to those who cannot stop, when others don't have the motivation to start. May our energies be divided evenly one day. In the meanwhile I don't wanna stress before Tuesday so where's that sixer and my bowl :-/

Fuck.

that's why quitting alc and pot is so rewarding (and so easy), solid turds, lot's of energy, cough goes away...

my heart goes out to the people who can't stop or give it a break. but those would be probably worse off with other drug(s) as well.

I believe alc and pot (maybe cook with it, if your lungs are bad) can be used safely.

quitting alc and pot can be learned, and it gets easier the more often you have done it.

the last 3 weeks I allowed myself to drink and smoke just on Saturdays...but gee, can I drink a lot if it's only rarely, fuuuuuck...tomorrow is Saturday, oh yeah. a whole day without mental and physical pain. :)I open the 1st beer at 10am or maybe a bit later...i'll be doing some light work in the garden, with lot's of beer breaks, than visit friends (swap water chestnuts for lillys), than it's back home again and disco, disco, disco.I think the once a week is a good balance.

Awesome to hear it man!! I have never had much of an interest in alc but i smoked like theres no tomorrow for the last five years, and i have also cut down to one in the weekend (sometimes twice if i'm feeling rebelious) and its been the best decision i have made in a very very long time.

I never realised how much i isolated myself with my habit, always heading home to chuff away my worries the moment i finished my obligations for the day, never even considered visiting a mate or doing anything out of the ordinary..

Now i have so much more time on my hands and i actually feel like talking to people, i can think better, i can communicate my ideas more effectively, i actually have ideas i want to communicate, i am more productive, less stressed, less moody.

Jesus christ why didnt i cotton on to this sooner!

I was so full of excuses and thought i could not function without, and now i am thanking my lucky stars i just commited and changed my behaviour.

So glad to hear you're finding a healthy balance PH. Good on you :)

I disagree with the easy part, but we are our own men.

My point was PH, it gets beyond that, to a point of no return, very quickly for many people. Stopping is an issue alot of the times and can actually lead to more serious issues if done in a manner by suited to the addiction. Ie alcoholics die daily from not getting a drink.

Shit mate, when I met you I thought you looked a bit pale but I had no idea that you were that sick.

I really hope you can get on top of it mate. I wish I could do something to help.

I was really sick a few years back and something that helped me was Qi gong. Outwardly it appears to just be like any other exercise but it's really good for releasing tension in internal organs and can greatly assist in healing them. It's great for the mind body spirit connection as well.

It sounds like you've got liver, kidney and lung issues going on there, so it certainly won't hurt. I've got a few good books on Qi gong I can you send you if you want.

I'm not suggesting to ignore your doctors advice but when they've got you back on track a TCM practitioner could help you regain organ function and they have a good track record treating alcoholism too.

You can beat this mate.

I have to agree with prioritise .. Every persons vice is different ..

Myself has battled alcoholism for years it is around me every where.. fuck it can be a hard one .... The fact your willing to talk about it goes to show your a lot more closer to quitting then you may realize ... Head up and all the best ...

Thanks Sally, yeh I remember vomiting twice that evening also, that was a major tip off for me as its happened each time since, quick violent purges.

I know quacks have the tendency to make things appear more important than they are, ie to keep you round the system, but this time it's on, my body's telling me all over the place. Ill defiantly have a look into that and pm you soon, thanks alot.

I'd have to agree that some doctors can overplay some issues and some of the less scrupulous ones may try to get you into the system but your case is an acute situation that really needs thorough investigation and immediate intervention. There's never been a time in recorded history before when a blood sample could give so many insights.

You've already acknowledged the causes, I'd say now it's time to utilise the best technology you have available to you until you have the the strength to minimise or eliminate those causative factors.

look, it's not easy for me either, but it's better, you think it will be easy to withdrawl youre selfe than difficult. I get the chills alternated with hot flushes, shakes all over the body, foul mood, can't proper sleep for weeks, pick up new ocd symptoms, and so on...

BUT, the worst withdrawl is over within a week of stopping. :)

AND, THAN YOU ARE FREE AGAIN.

many of my friends are alcoholics, but they are as well thinking, it's cool if I stop drinking and pot. but those "friends" which always offer you a drink, even if you said you don't want to drink, you have to separate from. like my ex brother in law, he hated the fact I stopped Tabaco, so he kept asking me to smoke for months on end, till I finaly gave up, and smoked one.

this c word of a person, seduced me to smoke, what a c.

I smoked many years after that... but now I haven't smoke Tabaco on it's own, since many years.

all you need is will power.

ask your self who is the boss?

you or the booze & weed?

it's time you are the boss again of your own body and soul! :)

thx, means a lot to me.

you know as ceres writes in her post #32, it's true that without dope, you have more energy, and you are far more social, at least that's how it is for me...

so because of this being more social, I can go now places..

and on wendsday, I will do something I wanted to do since a long time, but was not able to do so.

i'll visit the theatre and watch the qld ballet team, and hope to meet nice woman as well!!
