Dreamwalker. Posted February 4, 2015 nah mate,, no trich flowers for a while here. i had my other cereus flower a few weeks ago. is it possible to collect pollen and freeze or something for the future? Yeah really worth doing...for the sweet fruits or the seed or both. Everyone has their own way...mostly using silica gel. I use salt....its more handy. I get a clean jam jar....fill 1/3 with salt...put in 350c oven for 30mins....allow to cool with lid just sitting (not fasten) on top of jar....(This process dries out the salt)...then I use imitation luncheon paper ...forming in into a cup & inserting it in the jar (stops the salt from coming out etc..) Tape paper to top of jar (sealing it)...still need to be able to screw lid on...I get 3 cotton buds tape them together at 1 end ....stick into paper cupped jar after rubbing them through the pollen ...seal jar with lid..buds inside it...put in fridge till needed or freezer if you want it for next season...
upside Posted February 4, 2015 Cheers for that DW. Collected pollen last night. Beautiful bloom
Dreamwalker. Posted February 5, 2015 meant to add I make a smaller paper envelope, removable (finger size to hold cotton buds & pollen), that sits inside the larger p. envelop in the jar.....
Brendo Posted February 5, 2015 I vote flw bud....Thanks! So it flowered last week & I pollinated it carefully with a soft paint brush. If it's flowering again now, does that potentially mean I failed? Or is it more that likely an indicator this particular variant isn't self fertile? How long do fruits normally take to develop?

☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) my loph will are all self fertile so far (the ones that have flowered) and they will flower again and again (if theyre happy) as a normal thing (despite how cool it is) very re/productive plants from what i can learn of them, pollinating causes more seeds , If it has got loads more seeds in the fruit than one that has been self polinated, you know it worked ;) self pol = maybe 3-4 seeds in my exp cross pollinated = maybe 8-12 seeds in my exp , who knows tho , maybe more? come to think of it , im sure i read somewhere in the depths of time that thats how some "seedless" fruits can be developed, i forget where though Edited February 5, 2015 by ☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ

upside Posted February 9, 2015 Am shit at IDs but is it Myrtillocactus geometrizans???Hi Cubism,, I don't think so as I have at least a dozen of those in different stages and it doesn't match. I'm thinking after a Google search it could, maybe,, be a Stenocereus?? Still unsure......

Gimli Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) Quickly came home for lunch break, had a quick walk around the garden and noticed some bits of Pachanoi I dumped in the garden have started growing pups. They were only put there around 2 weeks ago? These bits get filtered shade, explains why they're doing better than the Bridgesii or Pach in another spot lol The pup on a piece of Yowie I have in a pot has seem to have grown a bit more exciting times Edit: turns out the piece of Bridgesii I got locally also has a pup just starting :D Edited February 11, 2015 by Gimli
gr33ntea Posted February 11, 2015 Originally i had a loph on the pc pach, but the graft failed so i tried it again with a tiny spach graft that had a variegated astro aerole graft on it
Brendo Posted February 11, 2015 Took a pic of this plant, Echinopsis Los Banos. Does anyone know anything about the origins of this plant? Is anyone growing it? It's crossed with T. Pallarensis. In the last few months it's put on some really nice growth. Looks almost Bridgesii..
