mutant Posted June 24, 2012 ^^^^ amazing plants, great gymno collection, I like it there are other people with interest in other genuses. also good looks and good idea with the clay pots for gumnos, I think - they dont overly like full sun positions , most of them I think... GRAFTING NOTES early summer 2012 batch: like kadakuda has said about his own retrospective experience with "which technique to use to apply pressure on the scion" subject, I am finding out that indeed the most universal way giving the best results in a different range of combinations is the duct tape sticked on the cactus body technique, cloth on top of the scion so as not to get it stuck with the tape, tape applied peripherally to the cactus to ensure the tape ends remain stuck. This is especially helpful when lots of pressure is needed. One only need to find a way to be able to remove the tape 4-5 days later without knocking off the scion, which was tricky for me when I had tried this in the past. so , I made some 10 grafts on myrtillocactus, t.bridgesii and kk3399 pachanoi, I use the duct tape method for most and for four of them I used the fishing weights and line method - 3/4 failed like this so I re-did them with duct tape. I had some 9/10 - close to 100% success using the duct tape. I never had great success with myrtillocactus so I haven't really done many, duct tape is strong and versatile, you can adjust the amount of pressure you apply. scion graveling might be a good idea sometimes Scions were lobivia monster-sulcorebutia-rebutia-echinopsis arachnacantha. I also did some 5-6 more on selinicereus without pressure as always, and as always got good success, 5/6 that is. Also, I got my first catha edulis to germinate!!! yoohooooooo! fuck yeah! also sowed chives, they germed too fast! oops I am talking plants now, so I must be offtopic, lol! hey, Still man, I am gonna start up a gymno thread

2Deep2Handle Posted July 9, 2012 Beautiful Got! You planning on putting some of those offsets of the Aztekium, Copiapoa and Turbinicarpus on pere? would love to buy a few baby grafts of the Aztekium and Turbini once youve amassed a few.
GoOnThen Posted July 9, 2012 Beautiful Got! You planning on putting some of those offsets of the Aztekium, Copiapoa and Turbinicarpus on pere? would love to buy a few baby grafts of the Aztekium and Turbini once youve amassed a few. Defiantly going to do some grafting. The number of pups on them just sold the deal for me. They are a bit dehydrated at the moment so I will probably let them settle in and fatten up a bit before I start removing there babies. I am not sure pere will be the right stock for some they might be a bit big. I do have some selinicereus but its not growing as fast as I would like. I do have a couple of little pups the broke of the Copiapoa when it was sent so I will have a go at grafting those onto some fatter pere and see how they go. I will put you down on the list for a graft or two Cheers Got
zelly Posted July 9, 2012 The coloration of the flowers on the aztekium are a bit off, they are not normally that pinkish. check out the pics at cactus art, which closely resemble what my aztekiums look like when flowering hxtp://www.cactus-art.biz/schede/AZTEKIUM/Aztekium_ritterii/Aztekium_ritterii/aztekium_ritteri.htm
