naja naja Posted August 11, 2014 (edited) my icaro is my fav cactus I own, seed grown, but only the one. No others for comparison. I'd like to get hold of more icaro seeds, mine came from REV from memory. Edited August 11, 2014 by naja naja
nitrogen Posted August 12, 2014 copped some icaros and short spine peruv x psycho0 seedlngs. anyone know about the later cross? what short spine peruv was used? Might be the "Paradeyes" x Psycho0 cross - I sent some of those seeds out to people as simply "Short-spined peruvianus" (SSP) x Psycho0 before naming the peruvianus "Paradeyes"..

magical9 Posted August 13, 2014 (edited) New shade structure and new pups on the "Wild Andes" Peruvianus. First 2 pics are of my bridgesii of some sort. Its rock solid and maintaining an almost 3" width. Grown almost a foot in 3 months after being cut. The pup on the "Wild Andes" has 9 ribs! so i was considering selling it on ebay for like 500$ or so once its like a few inches taller. im stoked. Optimystic Posted August 13, 2014 thats a gorgeous um , Wild Andes lol I got a couple from him and I slowed them down by being stupid trying to grow them under flouros the first year thru the winter ... that was maybe the dumbest thing I did in 2012.. . took a year for them to get going again but finally they show some life... anyhow I already see that u mulch some of ur pots nice plants!
djmattz0r Posted August 14, 2014 Finally got some more rocks to put down on my bed to help keep dirt down/reduce weeds/reflect light/keep in moisture Noticed my variegated crest is going dichotomous so 2 crested growth points Found this sexy little beast at work (Echinopsis deserticola if you can't read the tag) While watering, I found what appear to be seed pods of some kind in my pereskiopsis pot. They almost resemble those little sticky burs but they were almost attached to the dirt/wood and seem to have seeds inside them.. Does anyone know what these might be?? This pot was in the greenhouse at work for a while but no idea what they are from. the seeds on the left side of the razor and a few of the pod clusters
Optimystic Posted August 14, 2014 I get little pods like that too in some pots I think mostly where theres peaty soil but I can't remember for sure haven't seen many this year... the ones I get are different than those but they form a cup with a bunch of seeds or something... sorta like inverted mushrooms no idea what they are tho I got one of those variegated crests too I need to pot it up so I think i'll do that tonight also gonna prune some roots on a little crested plan that was outgrowing its pot ur post pretty much reminded me I have things to do djMattz

I really do not get the obsession with rib counts. Although I may have missed the sarcasm in your comment if that was a joke.... I mean, 4 ribbed plants do look cool, but really, I don't think high or low rib counts mean anything or should increase their value. Especially since a plant will usually shift ribs and do whatever the hell it pleases. But hey, we'd all like an extra $500 so more power to you if you can get it from a sucker. Anyway, pics of some seedlings that I moved from take-away containers to proper pots with soil a couple of days ago. It's a time consuming task doing that! The SS01 X SS02 and the lophs in the left of the pic seem to be growing the strongest at the moment.

nitrogen Posted August 15, 2014 People should run some spoof auctions on ebay just for laughs and to make the casual customer realize what a farce things like rib count are.. Run an auction for "Uber-rare 9-rib pachanoi - 12" cutting - $7,250.00" or "T. bridgesi - blessed by local shaman in Missouri - 8" cutting - $43,225.00"

woof woof woof Posted August 16, 2014 hehe,.. good laughs,... but here is what I did to my cacti. Went to pick up a AstroM Monstrose I ordered last week and they said it might have already been picked up by someone because they couldn't find it. So I freaked out a bit. Wasn't that it was an expensive buy. But I was really looking forward to my new baby. Today finally after a few calls they said they found it ( like a week later) so when the called I raced to go get it. And got it alive and well. Took it on a ride to do some shopping, sitting in the car,... letting it get some sun (after weeks in the mail) and giving it a little water in the parking lot.

mutant Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) summer heat came to normal levels after all, what a strange summer watered a lot * up-potting... * dug up more of those delosperma for my succulent bonzai project.... its D.bosseranum... it catches mealies though... not in the root, in the branches... I am seriously thinking of starting biological warfare... those mealies have seriously played with my nerves and I haven't done anything drastic so far... I just keep washing the effected cacti roots off the fucker. enemies are 1 root mealies 2 scale 3 spidermite Edited August 16, 2014 by mutant
