0 tripsis Posted May 23, 2010 (edited) 1, 2. A bolete of some sort. Not active. The texture of the cap is unusual, I've not come across any like that before. Maybe a Tylopilus species? 3. Could be a Galerina species, but that's just a guess. 4. A stinkhorn, maybe a Mutinus sp. 5. ? 6, 7, 8, 9. Maybe Russula spp.? 10, 11, 12, 13. ? 14. Perhaps Leratiomyces ceres, but I don't think so. 15. Chlorophyllum species. Did it have green gills? If so, it's poisonous. 16. ? Interested to know though. 17. Maybe Clathrus archeri . 18. ? 0 Atlas Posted May 23, 2010 I only collected number 1 and am printing it now, but since its not useful i might release him back to the wild haha. Wish number 6 was useful it looked awesome!! I'll never find damn subs, looked everywhere. Generally stuff that is over a year old. They can also be found in eucalypt mulch. Some people find them in pine forests but others say that pine forests aren't very productive. I haven't found any this year either, could be the daytime temps still getting a bit warm. From what I've read subs are slow to mature and take around 8-10 days to go from a pin to a mature cap, so maybe they'll be easier to find in a few days when they get a bit bigger Lord Mayonaise posted some awesome pics the other day maybe he could give some insight. 0 Atlas Posted May 24, 2010 Yeah i have been looking in mostly eucalypt forests, should it be deep canopy, partial canopy, sunny, they hard to find with no experience i've spent a few days in heaps of differnt areas but i dont really know what im doin even with reading alot of other peoples posts. I study the pics of subs that people are downloading and look at the substrate, the background, all the information that is in the picture can be helpful. I too have been looking around and have had no luck. I have been to the old places ( 25 year old territory) and have found nothing. I don't know if they just don't occur there anymore or what. I think i found a couple of dried out ones the other day at a new spot so will go back when we get some decent rain. We use to find them along the road side around farms where they use pine (not Cyprus) as wind breaks. I think that 17 is actually Aseroe rubra, but I could be wrong. It would be easier to tell if the stem was shown and it was in a less decomposed state. 4. Phallus rubicundus (?) 0 Atlas Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) It bruised blue as you can see, and that little one was small but had a white stem it didnt bruise do they bruise that young it theyre a psilo? also i found this Wish i found it before it decomposed its hard to see in the pic but this thing was like 13inches across.
