  1. My phone is nothing short of Fucked, this situation seems unlikely to resolve itself before sunday. So apologies to those whose calls/messages I've ignored, pls message me regarding this weekend if there's any secret squirrel shizzle I need to know about. Oh and was it mt coot-tha? Where do you go, like slaughter falls down the bottom or near the channel 7 antenna or what?
  2. Not going to be easy with a very laid back afternoon situation, but we'll see what we can do eh?
  3. so gtarman i should bring a plant or two, other than that we just shoot the shit? sounds so tame compared to meetups i'm used to ! ;) doublebenno, I've just moved into a new place that requires a lot of jungle clearing so I'm calling dibs are you aware of the brisbane permaculture society which does "blitz" working bees on peoples' houses? apparently once you've helped with 2 other (1 day) blitzes you're eligible for one of your own. being permaculture folk we're not just talking plants but also chicken runs, bee hives, compost heaps, drainage, crop rotation, etc etc @prier I live a couple of k's from mt coot-tha buy haven't been for 3-5 years (and never their "botanical gardens"), lemme know if you like the idea of a blind guide leading a blind outsider ;) don't forget the botanical gardens in the city, they're much easy to get to by public transport etc (they're right down the south-east extreme of the city.
  4. I'll be around for the 22nd, I'm in the Brisbane area now officially. So is it a laid back swap or a working bee of some sort??
  5. Short answer is yes but not indefinitely, growth rate and health will eventually be affected. Even if you don't have a decent compost pile you can still keep a big pot with your used soil and throw in a bit of manure or peat to bump up the organic matter for reuse.
  6. In the most very-gay-ted sense possible... *groan*
  7. Pretty sure I have a variegated variety of this guy.
  8. OK, everyone who posted PM me with how many seeds you would like up to 100 - if you have the space for that many of course! Picking winners and leaving out two people would be kind of shitty, wouldn't it? Happy planting all, this is an important bush food wattle with rumours of spirit powers.
  9. The legality of importing kratom and sally wouldn't change any more than coca, opium or cannabis.. they are both banned based on both their botany and their active constituents. Same goes for mimosa and confusa root bark, vine and leaf, challi, LSA containing seeds, kava (with personal travel exception), ephedra herb etc. This was not a bill to restore rights to people.. Examples of things that would have become illegal to import had the legislation passed unamended include calea, zornia, heimia, mulungu, dagga, lotus, damiana and passionflower and the seeds of some or all species of Brugmansia, Canavalia, Erythrina, Mucuna and Anadenanthera.
  10. It was my understanding that the magic produced by seed grown grass tends to be very unpredictable in quality/quantity, and that clones are what you're after - does anyone grow any named strains by division?
  11. Thanks to all involved for their work here, it's rare to see any fruits from so many peoples' tireless efforts in the often obscure politics surrounding our niche interest. Unfortunately having the bill pass with ammendments isn't really a win so much as less of a loss.
  12. I already have enough tabs open coolname, you hardly warrant another.
  13. Haha thanks for reporting gf. These are not unlike the ones used by street vendors in SE Asia: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/sugar-cane-juicer ..but yeah it's still a bit of an outlay. I can't really think of an easy way to improvise such a device. These guys use a bamboo vice Hare Krishnas I think?
  14. Hey guys, giving away 5 packs of Acacia victoriae seeds. Post once in this thread by midnight Friday (QLD time) and 5 people will be picked at random. I'll make packs of 20-30 but if you win and want more or less let me know when PMing your details. It's easy when sowing acacia to forget you need a place to put all the bloody things, but if you have room to plant them en masse all power to you cheers -ef
  15. Oooh cool! Most interested in that guy, as well as Erythrina variegata if still available geebus !
  16. What have you tried so far in the way of germination, gf? I'll happily play with a few but I can't promise anything... sharing your failures might be helpful though ;) If they need heat now is the season for me to give them a try. I'm already not even bothering to bottom heat cuts and tricky seeds.
  17. Snuff would be awesome upside, if I'm up I'll make sure you get some goodies in return
  18. I'll be there. Any idea where "there" is yet though?
  19. Waiting on an addy from NTS, prize and some bonus seeds will go out soon Thanks all, congrats nate!
  20. Most interested Mira, let me know how to fix you up with $ or trades
