Nice job with the cross, Darcy. Should make for some interesting offspring, especially seeing how the mom's a midget. :P

Maybe she'll pass on those free flowering traits.

Just a couple of questions. Which part of the flower did you rub the pollen onto? The 'starfish' shaped bit that sticks out more, or the many thinner tendrils that are deeper in the flower, or just all over?

Also, how long did it take for the fruit to mature and how did you know when to remove it? Just wait till it cracks open?

I'm about to try this exact same cross and am hoping for things to go OK, any pollination tips much appreciated.

lol, rub it on the starfish, that's the female part, the stigma.

the fruit took about 6 weeks to mature, it really starts to swell in the last few days. Came out one morning and it had split and dropped off. Be carfeul though cause things will eat it at this stage, there were ants on mine. I had a cage around the whole plant, just cause it's so small.

check out the 'scop pollen wanted' topic in the seed exchange, some good tips in there.

good luck!

just harvested my scop x bridgesii fruit yesterday, if anyone wants some seed send me a PM. ill put pix up tomorrow, mumma is a fatty glaucous spiny scop.

dunno how good an acceptor the bridgesii is, nothing (pach, peru, scop) seemed to take but then a few key branches were lost in a big storm. one more chance this year i think...

oh yeah cheers for the seed darcy, got 100% up within a week, and they are charging along!

If the fruit falls off prematurely, I guess she's stuffed right?
