distortion of consciousness

Isnt it really the public who say this who are themselves Sophists on a grand scale, and give a complete training to young and old, men and women, turning them into just the sort of people they want?

'When do they do that?' he asked.

'When they crowd into the seats in the assembly or lawcourts or cinema [theatre], or get together in camp or any other popular meeting place, and, with a great deal of noise and a great lack of moderation, shout and clap their approval or disapproval of whatever is proposed or done, till the rocks and the whole place re-echo, and redouble the noise of their boos and applause. Can a young man's heart remain unmoved by all this? How can his individual training stand the strain? Won't he be swamped by the flood of popular praise and blame, and carried away with the stream till he finds himself agreeing with popular ideas of what is admirable or disgraceful, behaving like the crowd and becoming one of them?'

Well that's exactly what happened to my 2 teenage children.

In my view they have their priorities totally wrong...

A fisherman was fishing in a river. He had stretched his nets across and had dammed the current from one bank to the other. Then, having attached a stone to a flaxen rope, he beat the water with it, so that the fish would panic and throw themselves into the mesh of the net as they fled.

One of the locals from the vicinity saw him doing this and reproached him for disturbing the water and making them have to drink muddied water.

The fisherman replied:

‘But if the river is not disturbed, I shall be forced to die of hunger.’

Always swim against the current first(while you're still young ).

It's animal instinct, consistency in beliefs will affect those around you, both positively AND negatively

How's it go?.."what doesn't kill you-makes you stronger"!!

Cofused???

We all are :D

(bloody home brew!)

?.."what doesn't kill you-makes you stronger"!!

Cofused???

Not true for people who survived strokes or heart attacks... most are "crippled" for the remaining time of their life

Yeah....maybe physically, some mentally, but is that what life is??

I have looked into the eyes of 'retarded' (horrible word for 'not as intelectual as the majority')pepole and often wondered whether their perception is more attuned than ours

Gom, you are not alone trying to understand the new teenage generation

I mean kids are still following immature fools that flail around designer drugs, like they're smarties(nice pun!!).

Most if not all indigenous cultures initiate their young perfectly;the plants used are not hidden in the draw with the challice,or bamboo snorting device, and the ceremonies are revered and the preparations etc are all part of the kids lives from day 1. No PS2's in the jungle baby!!

The power of parenting/empowering new generations has been taken out of our hands

No physical process is 100% efficient. not everyone is susceptible to the propaganda...

a bacteria will develop resistance to a specific antibiotic over time.
