Gwydion Posted May 29, 2002 My lophs are under attack!!!! The local roving feline menace has been assaulting them for the past couple of days, pulling out three, destroying a baby and trying to use one as a bauble. This last one is now covered in bruises and scratches, and looks particularly fragile. I'm more used to San Pedro (i.e. hit it with a hammer, throw it off the roof, chop it into little pieces and then watch it grow straight back). What can I do to ensure that I don't lose this wikuri to rot or sheer shock? (Let alone let it become cat-bait?)
Auxin Posted May 29, 2002 To get rid of the cats you could cover the area with chili powder (not to much at the very base of the cacti though, that could promote rotting.)
Torsten Posted May 30, 2002 keep the cactus really dry for a few weeks until the scars callus over. avoid humidity. at first sign of fungus dust with elemental sulphur.
Guest Monkey Shines Posted May 31, 2002 I have two cats and to keep them off the garden I put a whole lot of sticks on the groud with about 15cm sticking up, this makes it hard for the cat to play in the garden but is not harmful.
gomaos Posted June 9, 2002 Hmmmmmm....... my cat's never attacked the garden at all... but then...he's enlightened....
