Maximt
Hi Moose, I'm by no means a monotub expert or a cobweb mold expert, but I remember reading a post on reddit about this, and the focus point was YOU. DO. NOT. HAVE. COBWEB. Cobweb is very rare, and sometimes myc is just thin/stringy like in the pic you have. you need to look out if it starts looking like this Hope that helps. MT P.S. found the reddit link https://www.reddit.com/r/unclebens/comments/gzg5zd/listen_the_fck_up_you_do_not_have_cobweb/ Edited August 11, 2020 by Maximt adding the reddit link

Northerner
It may not be cobweb, but it's not healthy mycelium either. Some sort of nasty.

Northerner
Nah man. It's fucked. You can grow it out anyway if you like, but it's not a winner. Might get a small flush. You could make an outside patch with the spawn. The cube will win the fight out there in a semi shaded position if you're warm enough. Might still be a bit wintery at the moment. Bury it 10-15cm thick with a 1cm casing sprinkled with grass seed if you have it. Cover it in plastic for a couple of weeks, uncover and water lightly. Will fruit 2 weeks later. EDIT: I used probably half the grain spawn i should have in the tub so colonisation is expected to be slow, i'll continue to grow it out, no real harm in that Edited August 17, 2020 by TheMooseZeus
Zonad
@TheMooseZeus - so hard to tell from the photos. I notice that the mono doesn’t have the standard fae holes I’m accustomed to. It’s also pretty cold for growing cubes at the moment which seems to slow everything down and increase problems in my limited experience. Mycology will do your head in... just when you think you have everything down pat, trich will appear. Hopefully you get a decent flush for your hard work! Keep trying and learning. A great teacher of patience and perseverance!Day 18 and first few pins showing. photos for motivation! 1

It doesn't appear to be spread everywhere, hopefully just isolated to that area you photographed up close. Putting salt on moulds can stunt them and give the myc a chance to outcompete them. It looks a lot better seeing the whole tub rather than seeing just that one small section.
