Sydney botanical gardens

Recommended Posts

Had to kill a bit of time between gigs a few days ago... So a quick smoko stop at the SBG to check what might be flowering made perfect sense.

The only crap thing was my phone died about halfway around the garden so i missed heaps of nice plants. Including the two beast terscheckii looking plants. My phone died just as i was taking a photo of them.

Can anyone thats been there confirm they are terscheckii??

Anyway here is a few pics.

A couple of the Myrtillocactus were massive and in great condition...i have a very big hand and the photo just doesn't do it justice.

And that poor stump of a scop was around 3 mtrs with a few nice arms a few years ago...it also was located at the entrance to the park.

Hi B, amazing pics! Do you mean those two plants?

20151203_153317~2.jpg

Looks more like Trichocereus Werdermannianus to me. But definitely from that group of plants.

I think he means the big thick terscheckii looking plant which is up near the back wall next to the herbarium.

It's sad that so many plants get attacked like that scop. I remember when there used to be a large catha edulis in the sbg but they took it away due to the attention it attracted.

No sorry Eg I didnt get a picture of them sorry!!!

Hey i think Glaukus is right that one of them use to be located near the western wall near the herbariuim next to that taquim looking plant.

But they are now both together.

You can just make them behind the pilos in pic #4...so they are in the middle of the garden in the steel stepped structure?

I know i have photos from a few years ago just need to find the time to locate them!
