Opuntia microdasys ("Bunny ears") - looking for a pad at least of this to root up and for a little bloke to look after.

Might help keep him away from the more potentially impaling ones.......glochids first....lol....then spikes.

Send me a PM if you can spare a pad, can coin, trade or some such shit <___base_url___>/uploads/emoticons/default_newimprovedwinkonclear.gif

Also if there are any opuntia heads with any interesting known varieties I'm keen to know what else might be out there (yes...for the big kid this time <___base_url___>/uploads/emoticons/default_biggrin.png ).

Cheers

WB

i got some, kinda hoping they'll just pass peacefully lol

had all 3 but the white one died over the winter...

seriously don't do that to a kid, thats not gonna help them to appreciate cacti lol

if anything I try and forget they are even on the property

spikes first all the way....

Givem a PC or one of those Pine Cone Cacti Tephrocactus Diadematus I think

they're ez to handle

Its not for handling....yet...what do you bastards take me for...lol

A forest of bridge and peruv aint a safe place for a kid (or me at times) to be stumblin about......I am just building up a safer zone

Did you get one WB ?

I can swing you a pad from my "Bunnies ears", I should have one with roots somewhere.

Who-ever named them Bunnies ears must have been a sadist, on two separate occasions I've seen them at Bunnings, someone has walked up and read the tag and been compelled to rub their fingers over the "fur" on their ears resulting in a handful of glochids. You want a set tongs or something similar to handle these things. My kids won't go near them after experiencing the joy of removing thousands of glochids from their fingers.

I've got a few near spineless Opuntias too that might be more suitable for a kids garden if you're interested.

Yep Sally I've got a bit of micro on its way (thanks mate <___base_url___>/uploads/emoticons/default_newimprovedwinkonclear.gif )...lol I agree on the bunnies ears naming.

They will be a top shelf job for the youngster....tended to under supervision.

Use to see them all the time when I was younger, and some interesting forms of it as well. Cacti just gone out of fashion down here (climate doesn't help...lol) , so its hard to get the likes of Bunnings stocking a broad range.....shit at times I have issues getting their mongrel trich stock for grafting <___base_url___>/uploads/emoticons/default_sad.png

I'll send you a PM outta interest on the other opuntia front , thanks mate.

EDIT - he is also the "Master" propagator of my find of a spine and glochid free O.ficus- indica
