Nurseries in Thailand

Recommended Posts

I'm going to Thailand in February, I've been searching for nurseries there to visit during my trip as I want to get a lophophora crest.

I did some online searching and I only came up with 3 nurseries in Bangkok. I even went through the links in the cactus mall but most of the links there are either not working or in thai language only.

So if anyone knows any nurseries there, I would appreciate it if they connect me with them.

Thanks

I see a lot of nice pics coming from Deawcactus Nursery. Should be worth checking out: http://www.deawcactus.com

Didn't they just auction off a wild collected "illegally poached" Aztekium valdezii

It sold for 70,000 yen

Damn! that's a lot of money too! but I guess the bar has already been set pretty low with so many people monopolising plants… I'm reminded of that whenever I look at eBay or some of the nurseries here in Australia. Also don't forget Karel Knize. I don't see any sense trying to stand up for a point like this, you just can't win :) . Though It's always good to point the crooks out and give people an informed choice.

I know right? I thought about deleting my post after posting it.

I just read a letter by a Mexican conservation group that sort of opened my eyes and called the nursery out. I just wish there was a way for the botanist, conservationists, and uni to work together with the hobby and business side of it to sort out the problems they face with wild collecting specimens. If the person that found the wild population could bring back seeds and propagate them to an efficient number and distribute them for a while to lessen the demand on wild populations that would be a win win.

Thats just my 2cents.
