18 year old cactus, help me ID!

Question

Was sold this cactus about half a year ago. It's seed grown, and according to the previous owner, at least 18 years old. It has never flowered either. 45cm tall.

Also another...

Small cactus, fast growing. Entire new offset (7cm high) has formed in the past 6 weeks. Body of cactus is ball shaped. Ants seem to love this cactus (ugh). Looks very much like an opuntia, except there's no glochids. Photo0259, Photo0263

Sorry for the blurry photos!

Cheers

Seems the forum is ignoring my line breaks and won't let me edit my posts. Sorry for the wall of text.

That's an opuntiad growing out of a rooted fruit.

As for the other one, I'm thinking either saguaro or cardon.

Cool plants! I had no idea that you could root a fruit and it would grow. Crazy!

I'm with Snowfella a very young opuntia and a stenocereus.......(possibly Stenocereus weberi)......which is a really nice plant...grows huge and has excellent eating fruit.......(one day)......I have a 30 year old saguaro ...not as tall..............it looks different................mine is much more open at the top, less spiny, and much wider...............either way a rare plant for this land.............great find.

Has the fruit rooted or has a seed germinated from within the fruit?

Just thinking out loud.

If it was a seedling it wouldn't look like that. That's definitely a pup coming out of a fruit now that he meantioned it.

The first plant it a weed. The second one is a Pachycereus weberii seedling, those things are super slow. Your's has been grown outdoors in full weather. If you grow them in a hothouse out of the weather they look much nicer. It should come out with new, lovely red spines when in growth.
