SayN Posted November 21, 2013 I have a range of tricho cacti and have been growing and collecting for about 7 years. In all that time, i've not had a single flower. Is there anything I can do to encourage flowering? Sure, pups are good but the flowers are really something. FWIW, my soil is quite clay-rich.
Dreamwalker. Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) only guessing here...phosphate is used for plants in general to encourage flowering..........ie bonemeal..............possibly combine a little extra water during summer............. Foo Posted November 21, 2013 The most re-liable way ive heard of is stress. Stress by under watering, removing root mass, placing in full sun, etc However, i have no flowers to this point
Micromegas Posted November 21, 2013 Seven years is plenty. You need to provide more info... ground/pots? Full sun? from seed, cuttings? At a guess I would say too shady.
dawnbeaver Posted November 21, 2013 I'm guessing too high nitrogen levels.

prier Posted February 2, 2014 You really don't need to do anything special, if the cactus is happy it will flower when it's ready
