Stillman Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) JB (Jims Bridge from Cactus Country) open pollinated are my fastest growing Trichocereus. Seeds were from PD germinated February 2012. I put a a few plants in the ground a couple months ago and they were attacked by slugs and grasshoppers straight away . A few weeks ago I hit everything with some fertilisers and molasses and today I went down and found these. This plant is one of my favourites its the most vigorous seedling I have and seems to be immune to black spot so far I get the feeling it wants to be a big beast, and it actually gets a really nice blue glauca through it. I think it may be crossed with either pachanoi/ macrogonus/ rosei. Which do very well here. slug damage Pups Edited September 3, 2013 by Stillman
Bert&Ernie Posted September 3, 2013 So pretty... Is it usual for it to pup at the base like that? Or Is it from the slug Damage?
Stillman Posted September 3, 2013 I'd say its natural but maybe the slug damage and the fertiliser hit made it do it quicker. I have a few that have been attacked and also given fertiliser so will be interesting to see if any others pup hard.
Rum and Monkeys Posted September 3, 2013 That's cool mate Bridgesii are one of my favourites. I was gifted one some time ago and before it was 30cm tall it had pupped twice from the base. So who knows. Happy growing Stillman!
