hypnotoad Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) I've had a raging hard-on for these for a very long time now. So now is the time, I'm going to get a few different corms off the net, specifically Konjac and Titananum. These people seem to be doing ok and it's not exactly in a hothouse. http://ianjudy.blogspot.com.au/2012/01/amorphophallus-titanum-corpse-plant.html Any tips for growing them subtropically? shonman Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) (insert crude childish pun here) Lovely! I assume it is pollinated by flies, as it 'smells like a rotting corpse..' ..... you are hoping to extract the volatile oils and make perfume, perhaps....? shortly Posted April 20, 2013 Konjac is dead easy, just feed, well & keep the water up to it during its growth cycle & keep then in dappled shade. Oh and keep them dry during their dormant phase. Titananum you will need to baby, unless you have a warm glasshouse it will be lucky to survive, mainly because it gets cold before their dormant phase begins and for some reason they seem to wake fairly late almost in mid summer to they are behind the 8ball to begin with. And they are VERY VERY VERY hungry so give them constant small feeds.\

shortly Posted April 21, 2013 They are fun to play with Gunfighter. You can build up numbers by taking leaf cutting of both species. @ Shonman : Perhaps they are to make konnyaku (yam cake) or shirataki noodles?
hypnotoad Posted April 21, 2013 I only want to grow them to bask in their glory.
