Jox Posted February 23, 2013 I understand it can be a tek on grafting or mycology etc but I don't see any write up of the procedure, only pictures. OPP, my entry the 10th post tells you what the stock is, what the scion is & how big it was & the date I did the graft. I will admit I forgot to put cut,cut stick . Like I said earlier, I don't expect to win any prizes with my grafts I just thought people would like to see them & by doing this I make members aware that Bigred has this comp going & I'm hoping others can enter rather than bitch. If people would put in an entry rather than nit pick this could be great!!
Stillman Posted February 23, 2013 I'm going to leave this thread to Psylo PH and OPP.
Jox Posted February 23, 2013 Here is another graft for people that like to watch. The stock is Peres 12cm long I cut the top 3cms off when making the graft, making in 9cm. The scion came from zellys seeds & is Tricho "Lumberjack" X Tricho "Juuls Giant". I sowed the seed on 26/1/13 & this one germinated pure white on the 5/2/13, I left it grow for 13days, it stayed white the whole time & did not grow as fast as is siblings. I decided to graft it on the 18/2/13 (This is the youngest graft I have ever attempted, at 13days old I did not like my chances). The photos I am putting up were taken on the 22/2/13 making it a 4days old graft. I keep this graft under 90watt MH light in a humidity dome. I will keep you all updated. Lumberjack X Juuls Giant To do this TEK I cut the stock then cut the scion then joined the two . Thanks for looking. Cheers jox

Stillman Posted February 23, 2013 (edited) I'll update the photos in another thread for sure. Awesome albino by the way. Edited February 23, 2013 by Stillman
planthelper Posted February 23, 2013 jox, i start already the sucking up to you, regarding the albino juuls cross, nice graft! once you have mass produced this individual, i'd realy like one of them aswell. i had a juuls giant, maybe the only in oz, bloody tenants cut it down, and all my other cacti, i told the real estate, no cutting down in the garden.... this is an incredible graft, as albinos don't graft very well in general. a 13 day's old albino, might be as small as a, 5 day old greeny..... albinos are very often not very firm either, making grafting them more difficult.
Jox Posted February 23, 2013 ^^ Thanks PH & Stillman, I was very nervous doing this one & I am still not 100% sure it has taken as it has not shown any signs of growth but it has not gone backwards yet (no signs of shriveling or drying out). So fingers crossed . I will keep you updated.
OPP Posted February 23, 2013 Wasn't meaning to be difficult. Just thought that PHs tek was more of a tek than yours. Hope that makes sense. If I had something to offer I would share. Would like to get into grafting myself one day when space permits. Good looking grafts Jox.
Bigred Posted February 25, 2013 Isn't the only tek in this thread PHs one above? All the rest are just pictures of grafts. The comp goes for another four months, Some people are just saying the comp they plan on doing. I hope more people can enter there teks my opinion on what a tek is a step by step guide to do something. So if you have a awesome way of doing something please enter
Jox Posted March 4, 2013 Just a quick update on my entry's, #1; "Juuls Giant" X "Huancabamba" These photos were taken today making this graft 2 months & 1 day old, it is starting to look as though it might grow normally. I was hoping this graft would show some unusually growth as it was the strangest little pup. #2; "Lumberjack" X "Juuls Giant" There is not much to see here. This graft is 15 days old today & has not grown at all but I am confident that it has taken. Now it's just a matter of waiting for some growth . Thanks for looking, I will update with more photos in a month! Cheers jox
Jox Posted April 5, 2013 Here is another update, 1 month & 1 day on. It looks like the the "Juuls X Huancabamba" is going to grow normally but there only time will tell. The little albino "Lumberjack X Juuls" is starting to pump & staying pure white, so I'm stoked about that!! "Juuls X Huancabamba" Albino "Lumberjack X Juuls" I will update in another month. waterboy 2.0 Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) WB's Plant Label Tek we all know plastic plant labels can be a pain in the arse...lol, they fade, they break down in UV and fall out out as a few examples. Get an old aluminium can and cut out what ever shape you like as a tag ...rectangle, pointy bit if that way inclined. Use a scriber to scratch the relevant info onto the tag. BAM permanent mark on the tag.... Tag can be pushed in, I prefer to drill a hole into the pot, and tag and tie that puppy on with wire. (cable tie would also do it). Code your labels however you want, and database it into a file. Encrypt that shit if so inclined..... Be aware it may be an offense not to disclose the password of encrypted files if asked nicely - but hey shit happens and some old fcks forget shit regularly. Whats my name again? WB EDIT - also works as a label to be tacked onto logs to keep tabs on what has been inoculated and at what date you did the deed Edited May 12, 2013 by waterboy
Bigred Posted May 12, 2013 Awesome idea and it uses the KISS idea love it and not to mention it uses waste material .Fuck yeah waterboy love it
planthelper Posted May 13, 2013 (edited) Tag can be pushed in, I prefer to drill a hole into the pot, and tag and tie that puppy on with wire. (cable tie would also do it). I would as well go for the tying up method, as I did hurt myself, touching the sharp and thin aluminium. anyway, pushing the alu label as deep into the soil, so it's lower than the rim of the pot, also avoids this, tiny health risk. I like this method, and one could maybe as well, feed strips of aluminium into a label maker (my hand writing is yuk). Jox Posted June 2, 2013 Thanks mate, I have been wondering where to put it after winter. I was nervous two weeks ago when I moved it from under a 90watt MH light into a room with a 600watt light but it seems to be going well. I know the sun is a whole different story, I have seen yellow one's like yours doing well under shade cloth but pure white, at least I have till spring to work out a plan.
