OPP Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) Hi, These lovely specimens were given to me months ago without labels and my cactii ID skills are at the beginner stage. Help me ID them please. Now don't laugh at my attempt at IDing I tried to do it from google images but there are so many variations of each cactus it just gets confusing. T. Peruvianus E. Pachanoi on the left and no idea what the right one is Pachanoi T. Peruvianus. The colour in the photo is not a true colour. The true colour is a pale green Edited August 5, 2012 by OPP
0 ballzac Posted August 5, 2012 The unknown one is a bridgesii. I'm not sure about the last one. Doesn't look like peruvianus to me. I would need to see more pics of it I think, but looking near the top, with spines too long for a PC pachanoi, it actually looks like it could be bridgesii, and I've seen a similar shape (which I normally associate more with pach) on young bridges. Really hard to tell at the moment though. Partly because of it's age, but if I was holding it in my hand or had better pics, I could probably tell you straight away what it is. 0 lhb2444 Posted August 5, 2012 I was thinking the same along the same lines as ballzac with the last being a bridgesii of some sort.
0 OPP Posted August 5, 2012 Thanks. Some more pics of the last one Seems strange to me that the Bridgesii can be almost "square" shaped and then also be "traditionally" shaped.
0 lhb2444 Posted August 5, 2012 I like the square shaped bridgesii, kinda ugly little four ribbed thing but its got character!
0 ballzac Posted August 5, 2012 Thanks for the extra pics. I'm still not entirely sure, though inclined to still say bridgesii. It the spines start to look like this as it grows then you know it's a bridge:
0 lhb2444 Posted August 5, 2012 Sorry for an off topic question, but what others sites do you use for reference purposes ballzac? I use cactus-art.biz a lot but can't seem to find any other sites like it (if there are any?)
0 ballzac Posted August 5, 2012 None in particular, I just googled for images of bridgesii with a similar shape.
0 Distracted Posted August 5, 2012 The unknown one in the second pic... that is so a bridgesii, does it have 3 or 4 ribs? Looks really cool with only a small amount of ribs.
0 OPP Posted August 5, 2012 ^^ It has 4 ribs. It's almost square with no distinction between ribs
0 Jox Posted August 5, 2012 ^^Could that possibly be bridgesii x scop?
