omsource Posted July 15, 2012 hmm...in one week you should definitely see some mycelial growth. hard to tell without a pic tho. Also be sure that your garbage bags have holes in them to allow the mycelium to breathe!
Sallubrious Posted July 15, 2012 Spray it with water and if it collapses it's mould. Sometimes you can get over an early cobweb problem by spraying with 3% H202, it may allow you to get some fruits but not as many as you would have had without the cobweb. Like Om said let it breathe, some Pleurotus sp. can eat many contams and come out OK.
LokStok Posted July 15, 2012 Yeah, what Om said, the outer bag needs some air intake ports. Get some sponge rubber foam chunks around 10cm squ, cut about 6 holes in the outer bag, and jam/tape em in. I reckon the fluffy growth is just aerial mycelium growth behaving as it does in an airless cavity. Its a good sign, its working.

LokStok Posted July 16, 2012 IMO -top growth pics are mycelial. -oyster3.jpg, the whipped cream is mycelial, possibly just some early primordial growth. I see it all the time on mine. -others, altho on 1st first glance looked suss, I dont consider to be cobweb either. to have Dactylium mildew taking hold after one week would have to have you seriously look for the breakdown in your pasteurization process, but I reckon you would have nailed that.
